Still fleshing out my small trailer system. Will have roof mounted panels in the 4-600 watt range total. Planning for the possibility staying in it (dead of winter) on the relative's farm. I'll be sheltered, hence no sun. Set a panel outside for sun, with wire running probably 20 feet. Is that practical re voltage drop etc? Will it still work?

An answer only leads to more questions heh.
AC or DC, the wire doesn't care, yah? It's all about amps?
This MC4 solar cabling, what gauge is that?
Cheaper/ better to buy a roll of wire, connectors etc, and build myself?
Or, is MC4 just the connector?
Frankly, I'd rather build my own from quality components.

Use quality components when wiring especially where exposure to weather is a concern. When you do your ampacity calculation I'd figure a liberal safety margin & think long & hard how much more solar I might add in the future. Then wire for that + the margin you are comfortable with. Wire is far more reasonable if only bought once. If you get into the small numbers consider welding cable it is more supple and well insulated for an industrial environment.
