Propane tank valve, adapter and refill hose

I have a 100 Gallon vertical propane tank. I am unfamiliar with the valves on these larger tanks but have seen videos of people refilling their 20lb tanks from them. I'm hoping one of these valves connects to the liquid withdrawal tube but not sure if this tank has that. It does not look to be...

Any recommendations for a 115 v on demand water pump.

DAB esybox 3 VFD pump like the Scala 2 but has more settings and features for the same price. Flow rate and usage monitoring.

Finally Installing our System (What Have I Done Wrong So Far?)

I built an automatic heater controller with adjustable hysteresis for the diesel heater in my battery shed. In march I put a 15 gal poly drum with an emersion heater + temp controller. The heater never ran after that, its about a 3.5 kWh thermal store depending on the temp end point. I was...

Finally Installing our System (What Have I Done Wrong So Far?)

Are you near Fairbanks? Mine are fixed vertical and I'm working on a dump load controller. Currently boiling birch sap. Fire wood drier is next. Would be neat to compare notes if you are nearby.

    Dishwasher Off-Grid 2024

I just got a GE 550 dishwasher and ran it on the one hour cycle and only pulled 415 Wh and used about 5 gal of water. (connected to hot water) Im trying to track energy consumption of appliances and made a google form for it. feel free to add to it (i put in rough numbers from this post...

    Possible laundry solution

Oh, agreed. But if you already had a heat pump system that was near your generator shed, you could feed more heat into an existing system rather than make a new one. Only point I was making. High grade heat recovery if you had somewhere to put it anytime your generator is running would be...

    Possible laundry solution

Regarding the diesel heater, my thought was to have the elements disconnected in the winter but the signal runs an ac relay which controls the power to the diesel pump. That way you start the dryer on sensing mode, its running and then start the heater. It will run until the humidity sensor...

    Possible laundry solution

My generator is not anywhere near my house. Not walking laundry down to my solar system. Yes, all technically feasible I get it. But in practice I'd be more likely to put a diesel parking heater in a dryer before I used recaptured generator heat. And while were at it, why not run the generator...

    Possible laundry solution

No, not running a generator to power resistive heating loads. Heat pump maybe. the btu loss running a generator instead of burning the heat directly in a dryer is more than i can bear.

    Possible laundry solution

I saw the GE HP unit and have been eying it for a few months. It checks a lot of boxes except reliability (only been out for a year or two?). @hugemoth one of my concerns is freezing. Very cold here and cannot rule out a freeze up event. I imagine the heat pump would be okay in such a case...

    Possible laundry solution

I run my 50gal electric water heater on 120v just fine. Its a new rheem from HD. P=V^2/R where r is the fixed value of the heating elements, halving voltage will give you 1/4 the power consumption. So it takes 4 times as long to heat the water as it would on 240 but I wanted the larger tank for...

What Would You Recommend as an Alternative to this System to Pressurize House's Plumbing?

I have a grundfos Scala 2 which has some issues with leaking thought the glass filled nylon case. Just installed a DAB mini 3 (or esybox3) and it is rad. Flow sensing, reports, water usage and power consumption on the screen. For a small farm system I also spun up a vfd on a 220v jet pump with...

    DC Lighting plan

I agree, I have mixed dc and ac in my cabin. My toyotomi heater is ac only but lights are lvdc. In the summer I can switch off my ac most of the time. For cooking or heavier loads just switch it back on.

    DC Lighting plan

Big plus for dc led lights is no 120hz flicker. Very "calm" lighting if you are into that. Try putting 4x 12v lights in series. If one goes out you will have to play the Christmas lights game of which one went bad. Or two 24v lights. Each group will have to be on or off together.
