Propane tank valve, adapter and refill hose

I have a 100 Gallon vertical propane tank. I am unfamiliar with the valves on these larger tanks but have seen videos of people refilling their 20lb tanks from them. I'm hoping one of these valves connects to the liquid withdrawal tube but not sure if this tank has that. It does not look to be...

Any recommendations for a 115 v on demand water pump.

DAB esybox 3 VFD pump like the Scala 2 but has more settings and features for the same price. Flow rate and usage monitoring.

Finally Installing our System (What Have I Done Wrong So Far?)

I built an automatic heater controller with adjustable hysteresis for the diesel heater in my battery shed. In march I put a 15 gal poly drum with an emersion heater + temp controller. The heater never ran after that, its about a 3.5 kWh thermal store depending on the temp end point. I was...

Finally Installing our System (What Have I Done Wrong So Far?)

Are you near Fairbanks? Mine are fixed vertical and I'm working on a dump load controller. Currently boiling birch sap. Fire wood drier is next. Would be neat to compare notes if you are nearby.

    Dishwasher Off-Grid 2024

I just got a GE 550 dishwasher and ran it on the one hour cycle and only pulled 415 Wh and used about 5 gal of water. (connected to hot water) Im trying to track energy consumption of appliances and made a google form for it. feel free to add to it (i put in rough numbers from this post...

    Possible laundry solution

Oh, agreed. But if you already had a heat pump system that was near your generator shed, you could feed more heat into an existing system rather than make a new one. Only point I was making. High grade heat recovery if you had somewhere to put it anytime your generator is running would be...

    Possible laundry solution

Regarding the diesel heater, my thought was to have the elements disconnected in the winter but the signal runs an ac relay which controls the power to the diesel pump. That way you start the dryer on sensing mode, its running and then start the heater. It will run until the humidity sensor...

    Possible laundry solution

My generator is not anywhere near my house. Not walking laundry down to my solar system. Yes, all technically feasible I get it. But in practice I'd be more likely to put a diesel parking heater in a dryer before I used recaptured generator heat. And while were at it, why not run the generator...

    Possible laundry solution

No, not running a generator to power resistive heating loads. Heat pump maybe. the btu loss running a generator instead of burning the heat directly in a dryer is more than i can bear.

    Possible laundry solution

I saw the GE HP unit and have been eying it for a few months. It checks a lot of boxes except reliability (only been out for a year or two?). @hugemoth one of my concerns is freezing. Very cold here and cannot rule out a freeze up event. I imagine the heat pump would be okay in such a case...

    Possible laundry solution

I run my 50gal electric water heater on 120v just fine. Its a new rheem from HD. P=V^2/R where r is the fixed value of the heating elements, halving voltage will give you 1/4 the power consumption. So it takes 4 times as long to heat the water as it would on 240 but I wanted the larger tank for...

What Would You Recommend as an Alternative to this System to Pressurize House's Plumbing?

I have a grundfos Scala 2 which has some issues with leaking thought the glass filled nylon case. Just installed a DAB mini 3 (or esybox3) and it is rad. Flow sensing, reports, water usage and power consumption on the screen. For a small farm system I also spun up a vfd on a 220v jet pump with...

    DC Lighting plan

I agree, I have mixed dc and ac in my cabin. My toyotomi heater is ac only but lights are lvdc. In the summer I can switch off my ac most of the time. For cooking or heavier loads just switch it back on.

    DC Lighting plan

Big plus for dc led lights is no 120hz flicker. Very "calm" lighting if you are into that. Try putting 4x 12v lights in series. If one goes out you will have to play the Christmas lights game of which one went bad. Or two 24v lights. Each group will have to be on or off together.

Advice on properly charging Kilovault HLX+

I heard the same. They were dumping stock to recoup capital as they closed up shop. There's like one guy answering the phone now, rough job... My hlx+ will just go open contact if the voltage is too high. Then the pack will shut down and you have to hit the button to turn it back on. I have had...

    6s Li Ion charger search

Tesla modules are 6s 22v, not 24v. Looking for a variable output charger in that range. The 120vin, 24v out, 16a one https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-Blue-Smart-IP22-Charger-120-VAC-EN.pdf

Which Victron DC-DC converter to use?

!!! Its not a boost converter. The PV input side needs to be at least 5v over the battery voltage. Step down only. In my case I'm going from 48v to 12. Other combinations would be 48, 36 to 24, 12 24 to 12 Basically, where 12v cell groups = n, you need n+1 on the PV input with n on the...

Which Victron DC-DC converter to use?

A couple months now. Has been working great. Always shows full charge and battery seems happy. Have not looked at the equalization history but I assume its working. Had a time or two when my main (HV) pack disconnected due to cold temp (heater ran out of fuel) and everything for the 12v system...

    Appliance energy benchmark dot com

That was a bit of a joke because a toaster is a linear load. The point of this idea is to pool data on the average power of non linear or cyclical loads. but I did include a toaster (16.5wh per slice). :) Again, Max power is good for sizing inverters. Average power is better for sizing...

    EG4 6500ex-48 with 4 Tesla S batteries??

Will still work fine without victron gear. Some people run them on solark even, at reduced "capacity" and the partial cycle depth will greatly extend the life of the pack. For what they cost, you can just parallel a few more. Grab the consultation call on veroelectric.com and I think they...

    EG4 6500ex-48 with 4 Tesla S batteries??

Yes, like all lithium batteries the charge rate drops very sharply in cold. Lifep04 is even more severely cold affected.

How do you ventilate and heat the van? Aren't the two at odds with one another?

Friday was yesterday, Joe. Youre not fooling me. There will be moisture, if it doesn't come from outside it will come from what you exhale or from cooking. Not sure where we disagree. Nothing space age about it. Polyisocyanurate foam has been around since the 70s though its less flammable now...

How do you ventilate and heat the van? Aren't the two at odds with one another?

This. Except 1. Even if there is no water from outside, exhaled breath overnight is enough to cause a fair amount of moisture to build up in a space that small. My neighbor had his work van spray foamed with urethane, in a thin layer. Then it was coated in an egg shell bed liner that makes a...

Which Victron DC-DC converter to use?

I just ran a line from my lynx distribution on one of the inverter terminals. Its behind a 100a fuse, so, no. ? No, the 100|20s have a fuse on them next to the terminal block. I think they have a diode in them as well but there is always 48v on the PV side and its just tapers the charge when the...

    EG4 6500ex-48 with 4 Tesla S batteries??

Im running simpbms (which was just superseded by the verobms v2). Its a contactor based BMS that uses the OEM Tesla satellite boards for temp + voltage sensing and cell balancing. The simpbms (and verobms) talk with victron battery can bus and can regulate charge rate. It has over/under temp...

Which Victron DC-DC converter to use?

I use a victron smart solar mppt as a DC to DC converter for charging a 12v lead acid from a 48v lipo. I talked with my distributor and they said this should work but is not supported. I tried it and have had no problems. 48v to pv in 12v to batt Loads if you want. The advantage is you get all...

How do you ventilate and heat the van? Aren't the two at odds with one another?

Some mentioned an hrv. Most of these are large units but Lunos has a small hrv that uses bidirectional fans in a single tube with a ceramic core heat exchanger. It is not likely to be rv rated but if you installed it in a box with an external vent it would probably work fine. It needs a slight...

Does Twisting The Wires In A Longer PV Run Help Avoid Problems..?

I think ncv is the e field component because it can detect under no load conditions. Not sure. What's its sample rate? Probably higher than a phone mems. Might be able to catch something near a cable during full sun/full charge rate. Then try twisting and see if it goes down.
