  • Post in thread: How safe are the Chinese dc breakers?

I have around 50 of these in my system, no issues at all. But I have the same brand in 125a breakers for my aio, and batteries, and I have had at least 3 failures in the 30 of these I have.
  • Post in thread: Cool text this morning from customer

Actually my bitcoin has only been 7000 watts of load, I am upping that to 21,000 in the next few days or so. Most of the load to use solar goes to heating. Bitcoin heats my shop, I have electric in floor heat also in there. In the house I have a whole house heatpump and a few minisplits in the...

A older Ditch Witch is nice to have around. I have a all in one, back hoe, trencher, cable plow, small project boring attachment. It is like a huge Swiss army knife for projects.
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

Great month of March, 7288 kwh for the month, new one day best of 402 kwh.
  • Post in thread: SRNE 12kW IP65 HES and 10kW ASP

We are discussing how to tie these in to a panel. I would skip the polaris and lug splitter stuff and just back feed a panel with breakers from each inverter (with proper breaker holders of course). This gives you more options for protection, and more places to disconnect and service stuff. Just...

  • Post in thread: Post your Ground Mount Setup

My daughter and I did all the work. All this is connected to 10 Growatt 5000es inverters. Full electric house, and 2 EV cars. Lots of battery too, lol.
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

155kwh of much needed power today. Not a overly sunny, but with the cold, fresh snow cover, and sun it all works. Got my battery bank up to 96%. It has been 16 days since it hit 100%. Tomorrow may be the day....
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

Got lucky today, forecast was cloudy and to stay cloudy and rainy till at least next thursday. Last night I messed up and my car charged when I planned not to charge to keep batteries high. Woke up this morning to a fully charged car, and a 70% house battery. Oops, but lucky, the sun came out...
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

Need to wire in some loads to use that power up! As soon as it warms up, I will be wasting power with not enough load. Might buy a few more cheap old bitcoin miners, but they cost money too.
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

6375.9 actually, lol. Right now I am actually wasting some as my battery is charged by 11 to 1 pm daily on a full sun day, so I am bringing in about 50 to 57kw per our, but after the battery is charged, I only have about 30kw of load turned on in the house. I really need to get my in floor...

You know what the means???? MORE SOLAR!!!! It fixes everything!.....
  • Post in thread: Who is still building DIY batteries

I am glad to be just about done building batteries, or so I say right now, lol. I am at just over 230kwh, probably add about 30 to 40 kwh more. Building batteries is just not fun to me. Ground mounts, panels, pulling wire, hanging inverters is more my style of fun.
  • Post in thread: Post your Ground Mount Setup

Just another solution, I have a part wood array and I made manual adjustable tilt actuators from trailer jacks I purchased. They work great so far, and cheap.
  • Post in thread: Source for predicting cloud cover?

https://www.windy.com/ Works ok, can set to see clouds forecasts or satellite views
  • Post in thread: Bad storm came thru and powers out for 1/2 the county

    Stay safe!
  • Post in thread: Transfer Switch or subpanel?

One benefit would be if you wanted to charge your battery up as a storm is coming you can easily dump your some or all. of your loads back to the grid, so your battery can charge higher with solar.
  • Post in thread: Signature Solar

Shipping time is a huge issue. I am a diy guy, so ordering stuff and getting it shipped fast is necessary. I only have so many good weather days to install stuff. When I order stuff I want it shipped in 1 to 3 days max, that is the world we are in. So if now 10 days is normal, no thanks. A...
  • Post in thread: Thanks,Dad, For Teaching Me to DIY Stuff

kw, I am at 57kw now, going for 70kw total now, might be done after that. Probably will build a solar trailer next after this.
  • Post in thread: Who's is bigger?

Up to 112 kwh after todays work.
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

I am glad to see and follow another person with 5000ES 's. My 9 inverters will be all powered by 7s,2p 400 watt Bifacial panels. 6 inverters in one system and 5 more will be in another system but all sharing the eventually over 200kwh battery bank. Full electric house and shop, and 2 ev's.

Feel sorry for you. But that video was funny!
  • Post in thread: Cool text this morning from customer

Well........ After the latest halving of bitcoin, not so much in return, lol. Cost is $250 a piece for the used older ones I bought. I use them to heat my shop in the winter so that is a added benefit to me. Right now if electricity cost is free (solar) mine will make $3.00 per day each. I have...
  • Post in thread: December PV starting off crappy again.

    Cold, snow, bifacial panels.
  • Post in thread: Growatt SPF 5000 ES in parallel ?

You need a wifi module for each 5000es..
  • Post in thread: Transfer Switch or subpanel?

Pro trans gets my vote if you are doing a small system. Being able to move individual circuits back and forth sounds great to fine tune your system.
  • Post in thread: Think I have a bad EG4 6000XP

2017 NEC Code Current code in Wisconsin, link above. In the 2017 NEC®, the grounding electrode system requirements have been made much easier to follow. Now, it is clear that a building or structure “supporting” a PV array shall have a grounding electrode system installed in accordance with...

Some people like big power. In the winter if it is a sunny day I will put about 40kw of loads on and run most of the day. I paid for my solar power, I am going to do my best to use it up, lol.
  • Post in thread: Multiple N-G Bonds - Want to fix

Sad to say but your transfer switch is now your first panel. Ground rods need to go to it also. Your house load panel is a sub panel, need ground neutrals separated there, no bond. If an electrician did the transfer switch install go back after him to do the job to code.
  • Post in thread: Who is still building DIY batteries

Not fun in the way I want to do it for others, lol. I am a sparky I get my fill of electrical work everyday, and have a side business also. I do like helping others. I recently helped a co worker out planning his system and start up.
