  • Post in thread: Victron VenusOS driver for Bluetooth BMS

Many thanks for the update regarding autostart. Just playing around with it and installed the guimod from Kwindrem using https://github.com/kwindrem/SetupHelper Perhaps I'm doing something wrong with the settings, but I cannot see the battery info on the display. Uninstalling the guimod...
  • Post in thread: Why not to use Daly BMS with MPPT controllers

Yes, it would be nice to know the type of MPPT he used. In addition, these DALY types of BMSs should have a fail safe system that prevents these runaway failures or a design that inherently cannot have this type of failure. Is there anyone who can be contacted regarding to bugs of the DALY...
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

I returned the solar panel and got one with a higher voltage: Wattstunde type WS120SF-HV. Since then the problems were solved. Apparantly, the Victron smart mppt 100/20 needs a higher input voltage panel to charge a 14V LiFePO4 system.
  • Post in thread: New 48v Lifepo4 battery system

have a look here: She just started building a 48v Lifepo4 battery system. Give her some love....
  • Post in thread: Why not to use Daly BMS with MPPT controllers

Do you really think it is very time critical? To blow a fuse within 1 second is ok I think. If it blows at all. Otherwise a crowbar circuit that triggers an explosive fuse will do the trick within a few microseconds.... But, if the current is not enough to blow the fuse in the first place, then...
  • Post in thread: Why not to use Daly BMS with MPPT controllers

Back in the beginning of this thread I suggested an explosive fuse. Well, apparantly they do exist. They are used in e.g. Tesla cars. They are called pyro fuses. You can obtain them from used car part sellers. Most of the ebay sellers are selling them for ludicrous amounts of cash - local stores...
  • Post in thread: Why not to use Daly BMS with MPPT controllers

So there is a major problem with these type of BMS. Any thoughts?
  • Post in thread: Victron VenusOS driver for serial connected BMS - JBD / Daly / ANT / JKBMS / Heltec / Renogy / Tian / ECS

Very nice Brad, I just followed your instructions of your github page. It works out of the box. Now I can remove the rs485 cable. One bummer is that only one bluetooth connection can exist to the bms. No way to do something using my smartphone bms app. Perhaps a connect / disconnect option...
  • Post in thread: Victron VenusOS driver for serial connected BMS - JBD / Daly / ANT / JKBMS / Heltec / Renogy / Tian / ECS

Oh, After a reboot I have to ssh into Viccy to start it up again. Maybe something to start it automatically?
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

I reported a problem with Paypal. I want my money back. Well, that will takes some time. I'm not happy.
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

The seller changed the state of my order to 'on hold'. They can fix it - if not I will escalate the paypal claim after one week. I tried to contact them using skype and email. No answer.
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

Well, I swapped the solar panel for a different one. One that has a higher volatge output. It is cloudy today and unfortunately no tests. Bummer.
  • Post in thread: Ultimate thread repair guide. (And how to prevent)

Many thanks for you answer. It helped a lot.
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

Nope, I really do not understand them. They send me a BMS with Fedex. They send me a 120A with Bluetooth. Exactly as the replacement for the click and bait for another model (?) was asked for. And they refunded me ahead of shipment and announcement from Fedex. They shipped the 9th of July and...
  • Post in thread: Ultimate thread repair guide. (And how to prevent)

Thanks for the info. I have a few questions. Which primer to use? Is there a contact resistance using locktide? Do I have to tension the bolt to get a low resistance or can I leave the stud in it while curing?
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

My setup: 1 solar panel Wattstunde WS200SB (200W, Umpp 19.8V, Impp 10.1A). Attached to a smart solar MPPT 100/20 with the latest firmware 1.56. Victron Connect thinks it is a 48V version as well as my Raspberry Pi. The label on the device tells otherwise (ie no 48V written on it).(Sidenote: is...
  • Post in thread: Seplos Technology - is there anyone who knows them?

They have a nice website and a youtube channel. Looks very nice. Is there anyone who know them and can give some info about them? They also explain the difference between the quality of the cells. See their first YTvideo. https://www.seplos.com/ https://www.youtube.com/c/SeplosTechnology/videos
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

First observations of the 4s 120A smart bms JBD-SP04S020A. Aluminium was bit dented and stressed the pcb. Not good Some form of conformal coating. I thought it was not enough so I added some of my own (FSC flexible silicone coating from Electrolube). Not on the spark gaps. Why you may ask...
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

And they just refunded me in my paypal account. No communications from their side. I do not understand their sales practices.
  • Post in thread: lithiumbatterypcb incommunicado?

First tests on a 4s1p 75Ah system: Using the overkill app on android V3.1.1.1026 Bluetooth works Date of manufacture: 2021-7-9 Does this means that the BMS was manufactured 9th of July this year? Do they manufacture on order/request and their # in stock on their webpage is then bogus...
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

What I have done is the following: Battery voltage: 12V (LiFePO4) Max charge current 20A (I use a smart MPPT 100/20). I could set a bit lower. Expert mode on Charge voltages: Absorption voltage set to 14.10 Volts. (that is 3.525V per cell and is a bit on the high side 14.00 would be...
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

I also watched the bms during the charging. I diod not see anything out of the ordinary except for the current going up and back to zero. I do not think that the bms is at fault. I could be mistaken though if the display on my Android phone lags a bit in time and does not show any tripping.

  • Post in thread: New calb cells came without screw holes!

It is not a QR code in post #45. It is a Data Matrix. Essily decoded using s bstcode scanner on my Android phone. The free app I used is called "Barcode Scanner" by Cognex.
  • Post in thread: Poweroak foldable solarpanels quality ?

A few years ago I bought a foldable panel. It broke down very quickly. Micro cracks due to perhaps heat. I'm not sure. I do not want to make that mistake again. I'm wondering what the quality is right now of foldable ones. Are they any good? I'm thinking of getting one of these poweroaks...
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

    Battery was at approx 75%.
  • Post in thread: Victron smart mppt 100/20 goes up and down like a Yoyo and crashes output to zero

Battery was not full. I still have a hunch that it relates to using only 1 panel with an output voltage that is slightly higher than the battery. It is within spec of Victron, but I'm not sure if they really specify it correctly: PV must be 5V higher than battery. After the MPPT has started...

That's not good. I use pihole to get rid of all those sjit stuff websites throw at you. I'll call them today to ask if it contain glass that can break...
