For sale: Set of used panels, may show signs of salt water and shrapnel.
  • Post in thread: DIY Solar, Micro Inverters, Flat Roof Mounted, 3d Printed Mounts, AC Coupled Solis + PylonTech

Hi all, Last summer I added solar to our house on an easily accessed flat garage roof + a couple more on our shed. Keeping the flat roof water tight was a priority, I wanted to avoid drilling into the roof, or adding any significant weight to it. I couldn't find anything available commercially...

Russian troll, or just an ignorant grunt? Afford it? USA will make a huge amount of money from this conflict, and the massive increases in military defense spending that results. You owe them nothing? Ukraine handed over their nuclear weapons in return for security agreements with USA. So, yes...

Woohoo. Raised a ticket via the solis website and they've updated my account so I can now control my inverter through the solis cloud app. I've just tried it and updated my time of use charge times remotely no problem. For anyone else using this inverter. To raise a ticket, go here...

Hi. The mounts for the panels on the right are glued down using an outdoor waterproof adhesive. The bases for those panel mounts have a wide surface area allowing a good sized area to bond. I used PETG especially because UV isn't an issue. What I was concerned with is heat. The material will...
  • Post in thread: Existing Solar PV system needs to install battery

I've recently added a battery to my micro inverter solar install. Are you intending to DIY this? I used a Solis 5g RAI AC Coupled and a PylonTech US5000 battery. https://www.itstechnologies.shop/products/solis-3-0kw-5g-rai-energy-storage-ac-coupled-battery-charger-inverter My installation...

Mine is all micro inverters under the panels. PV now showing fine now whatever Solis support changed on my account. Total Yield is still 0 (I think this is a different bug), but I do get a display and values for current production and the detailed charts below the flow graphic on the overview.
  • Post in thread: What do you think of my idea (flexible solar panels on my van)

I'd add additional metal sections running between the two sides in front of each of the flexible panels, to make a full frame.
  • Post in thread: Chinese Balloon

My guess, they're some kind of small airship. Lightweight flexible solar panels, a few ducted fans and the electronics to take high resolution photos. All incredibly light and easily lifted by a shaped hydrogen balloon. Can probably buy one on AliExpress. Although, are we sure it's China...
  • Post in thread: Existing Solar PV system needs to install battery

If you're going to DIY it, it's a lot easier staying within the G98 limit.

Submit a ticket to Solis support. https://solis-service.solisinverters.com/support/tickets/new I'm not sure if it's a config error that I did when signing up to the cloud and registering the 'plant', or there's something up their end. However support were able to fix it so that I've now got...
  • Post in thread: Existing Solar PV system needs to install battery

Early adopters in the UK were offered very generous feed in rates to subsidise the high installation costs at the time. Making changes to those systems now would invlaidate that rate, so they'd only receive the current standard feed in rates.

You're welcome to quote my ticket number (133683). So the Solis support agent can use the same solution from my ticket. This is for the missing PV Output value in Solis Cloud. TechView is practically useless for me too - I just use it to remotely monitor SOC. I'm guessing this app is mostly...
  • Post in thread: Laundry and off-grid... Hmmm?

Our heat pump tumble drier only uses 350w. Might take a bit longer, but there's no big power peaks. Easily powered by solar.
  • Post in thread: DIY Solar, Micro Inverters, Flat Roof Mounted, 3d Printed Mounts, AC Coupled Solis + PylonTech

Sure. I think this covers all of it.
  • Post in thread: Solis Techview

Also note, only the first charge current will count. If you set 3 different times, they'll all charge at the first rate. I set mine to charge for a fixed amount of time overnight during the Economy 7 times and vary the rate depending on how much sun I'm expecting the next day. 15a for 7 hours...

Not sure what Ginlong are playing at. The PV display has again disappeared from Solis Cloud. If I made this many errors in my code, I'd have been fired long ago.
  • Post in thread: Solis Techview

I'm sure if it's sold in the US it would.
  • Post in thread: Solis App - not fit for purpose

The battery will charge from the grid if the charge level gets below a set level. This is to protect your battery from damage.
  • Post in thread: Solis Inverter Grid Connection Type

I turned the backup power option off on the inverter settings. There was an audible clink as a relay disengaged - now there is definitely no drain from the system into that circuit, and the additional load isnt displayed in the cloud.

What a sad, pathetic response of meaningless insults. You're lucky people who can see the bigger picture than your personal tax affairs are in charge. You're piddly little contribution is nothing compared to the tax your country receives from Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics etc. Just to...
  • Post in thread: What exactly do you need for a grid tied battery system that provides power during the night?

Something capable of supplying 200 people with a meaningful amount of energy, requires a bit more wiring and complexity than plugging a box into an AC plug on the wall.
  • Post in thread: Chinese Balloon

The problem with trying to argue with an idiot, is they end up beating you with experience. Congrats, you win.
  • Post in thread: Chinese Balloon

I did wonder why you got so few replies. Seeing your posts elsewhere (what a great contribution you've made) I take it everyone else has you on ignore. Good advice.
  • Post in thread: Solis cloud

I got a reply back from Solis and not sure what they've changed, but whatever it was, they've fixed it. I've now got PV in the top left, and an additional pair of charts below that showing generation stats. Cant fault their support dept. Thanks Solis.
  • Post in thread: Best solar Panel output, mounted verticaly on a wall facing south in Cornwall UK or flat horizontal on a flat roof

Is both an option? Following this winter, I've decided to add a couple of additional panels mounted vertically - purely to capture as much winter sun as possible. During the summer I'll have enough energy that I'll end up exporting most of it. However during the depths of winter, those extra...
  • Post in thread: What exactly do you need for a grid tied battery system that provides power during the night?

That's built in to the Solis (in a grid tied configuration) and I expect all other AC coupled inverters. It immediately stops supplying AC if it detects the grid is down.
  • Post in thread: Existing Solar PV system needs to install battery

    I'm guessing cheap rate overnight.
  • Post in thread: Laundry and off-grid... Hmmm?

Does your current washer have a 20c option?
  • Post in thread: Solis Techview

It seems like a pretty standard wifi antenna. Goes in the port behind where the dongle connects.
