Also, I took it to an electronc repair shop. The guy (didn't know anything about inverter, at least not in that kind of stuff) looked at it, and told me that he didn't see anything wrong that he could spot in it...
  • Post in thread: Newbies in this field of solar, read it before you even start a new solar project.

After investing (I should say ''wasting'') so much time trying to understand all the small details, and adding all the cost of a very complex system like this (Victron, Renogy, .. I mean inverter, solar controler, size of the wires and fuses, breakers, etc.etc...), I decided that I will send the...

Hi. Thank you for telling me your expectience. When I bought it, I asked them a few qsts and they answered me right away. I loved my experience with them. I guess I'll have to take it apart... Your answer makes my day ($$$). I let you know guys what was the problem.

  • Post in thread: Cheep easy way to insulate a shipping containers

Hi. I'm new here. I've just converted a shuttle bus into a ...''RV''... and moved into it a few weeks ago, even while converting and insulating it at the same time. Well, I just did my best in a very short time. So it's not that pretty inside, buy I insulated it almost completely. But after...
  • Post in thread: Need help chosing a solar controler

What does the 750 number mean? If that is the total wattage of my pannels, that number should be 675. If I undertood it right, 3 x225watts= 675w. I'm already lost with all these numbers. Don't get me more mixed up than I already am with all these numbers.. LOL!! I was thinking of hooking...
  • Post in thread: Hi. I bought some ''USED'' 24 volts solar pannels and I want to build a ...12 volt system.

Hi everybody. I bought some used solar panmels. After I bought these, I just realized that these are 24 volt solar pannels, and I am building a 12volt solar system. Are these going to work with a 12 solar controler (not bought it yet)? Or am I gonna have to buy a special MPPT controler to work...

  • Post in thread: Using a chest freezer and temp controller for battery temp control

Actually, the same thing could be done in colder climates by keeping the batteries from freezing ( with a very low consumption light bulb as an example,...) inside the chest freezer. At least, that's what I think.

I apologyze guys, I never wanted to offend anybody here. But you and I are both right. YOU: What I really meant was that if someone is willing to put the hours (and I mean MANY MANY hours) to build a very complex system, and have a passion and a real desire to build it PROPERLY a good system...
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

Update: I returned this DC-DC charger. I wasn't sure if it would damage my alternator... Problem solved, at least, this problem :)
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

    Tks.
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar ''All in one'' MPP2024

Hi. I bought an ''All in one'' MPP2024 in 2020, and never installed it until last week. The exact model is PIP 2024LV-MK. Unfortunately, when connecting it, I made a beginner's mistake. I shorted it . It was late and I couldn't wait to try it. So when plugging it, I made the stupidest...

I don't mind buying parts, but I want to be sure that the part(s) I would buy is the real faulty one(s). I'll wait a bit and look at the answers first. Tks.
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar ''All in one'' MPP2024

If I remembered well, it was a ''Code52'', ''fault sensor''.... Does that mean something to you?
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar ''All in one'' MPP2024

Actually, the code's been 57 ( Fault code 57 : Internal components failed. Return to repair center.) all the time, but once, and that one time, the code was 51 ( Fault code 51: Over current or surge: Restart the unit, if the errorhappens again, please returnto repair center.)
  • Post in thread: Need help chosing a solar controler

No no no. It's not ''625 watts'', it is ''675 watts'' ... LOL
  • Post in thread: Why some generators require a choke and others do not?

  • Post in thread: Need help chosing a solar controler

I checked Victron that you recommanded it to me. I chose a different model though (see the link below), which is a bit better with what I need, I think. Thank you very much for your help, cause I was lost... in all these small details. Victron Energy SmartSolar MPPT Contrôleur de charge...

It's like you put in words exactly what I couldn't. With all the help you can get here, you will never beat a big company!! Exactly. Also, I want to be clear: I also keep a gas generator and a smaller inverter ready just in case my ''All In One system'' fails.. :)
  • Post in thread: Newbies in this field of solar, read it before you even start a new solar project.

At the end, it is all a personal choice. But I just wanted to be sure that newbies would go through the pros and before making the jump. And for many people, the solar choice is NOT JUST A HOBBY. This is a calculated choice. I just wanted to tell them that, very often, BE HONEST GUYS, it can...
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

Hi. I just bought a Renogy DC-DC charger (it is the 50 amp charger) with MPPT. It says that the max PV for this charger is 25 volts. My pannels are 24 vots, but is says in the back of my solar pannels 29.4 volts (VPM 29.4v). Will this charger be able to charge my batteries with my pannels...

Let's not talk about boats either... I've looked at boats before. That is another big money pit! If you have that kind of money, good for you. But for me, and for many other people, we don't. If you had a 30 + ft boat, would you prefere to install an ''All In One system'' on it, or put a...
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

By the way, it is not too clear on the Renogy website about this. Or maybe I just didn't see the proper info about this.
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

Yes, the Voc is exactly 36.7v. You are right. So does that mean that I have to get a new solar controler wich will work with my pannels?
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

I live in Quebec... So we do have cold weather, some times it's -25 Celsius here...
  • Post in thread: Renogy DC-DC charger with MPPT

Tks for your answer. What does ''scc'' means?
  • Post in thread: MPP Solar ''All in one'' MPP2024

Hi. First, I assure you that I read all the infos about that system a zilllion times before to be sure I wouldn't fuck it up... When I tried it, I fully charged and equalized my batteries first with the grid power before I connected it to the batteries. I've already had my solar pannels (3 x...
