  • Post in thread: Fuse stated amperage and time/current curve

From Will's fuseology link (https://diysolarforum.com/resources/bussman-selecting-protective-devices.72/), I think this is a fairly good answer, but not exactly what I was looking for. Thanks all.

  • Post in thread: Gr00ldude48 - beware!

paypal...great. I have that and I'll use it. Not sure what the "as a service" designates...I'll do some digging...Thanks again!
  • Post in thread: 48V Disconnect

  • Post in thread: Breakers for 48V lithium batteries that get up to 54V of current?

LOL! Your comment clearly dictates that the goofiness of the few outweighs the wackiness of the many.
  • Post in thread: 12V LiFePo4 battery: "bms discharge cut-off voltage" spec incorrect?

Hi, I'm assuming this should be "<", not ">"? Thanks! Kirk
  • Post in thread: 48V Disconnect

I too wrote BEP and this was the exchange. Seems no interest by the company to specify the voltage spec over 48V:
  • Post in thread: Newbee to start new recreational boat install

Hi Audiobill. I'm a newb as well and liked your post. Just wondering if this thread should be moved to the marine forum (https://diysolarforum.com/forums/marine.10/)? Not sure how or even if it's possible to request that happen as I'm not savvy on how admininstration on this site works...
  • Post in thread: Victron MK3-USB interface module - used - Victron 5.9' VE.Direct cable - SF Bayarea $45

$45, including shipping to lower 48. I bought this off ebay, seller description of used and fully functional, to program my Multiplus II, but never had the chance to use it; returned the inverter as it was advertised as UL and it was not UL. Original ebay seller ad no longer shows as...
  • Post in thread: Looking for solar panel roof top installer - Marin County, California

Hi, I've tried with two local solar companies for this, but the project is too small and they are not interested. Yay, they are busy and this is good all the way around, right?....boo, I'm physically unable to do this myself and in limbo. I do not have the panels yet, so I'm open for the...
  • Post in thread: 12V LiFePo4 battery: "bms discharge cut-off voltage" spec incorrect?

Interesting how these symbols can be interpreted differently...that's why I was asking. For what you propose, if it were me, I would use the ≤ symbol. These are SOK's and they don't use the ≤ symbols at all in there spec sheet. Regaurdless, I take the meaning as the BMS will shut the battery...
  • Post in thread: Permit related: off grid definition and EMT use

Howdy. Hope everyone is well. I'm using an internet-based permit service and I'm hopeful the DIY experts here can help me with a couple of questions regarding the drawing. In trying to describe my system, the draftsperson stated that my system is grid tied when I was of the thinking was not...
  • Post in thread: Victron Multiplus II 5kVA

As I've read on other posts and the fact I'm a newbie to the solar world, phase 1 is my baby step and will not use AC IN. Phase XX in the future, I would like to use the AC IN contingency even though the dream is to be completely self sufficient on solar and batteries. With that in mind, I...
  • Post in thread: Fuse / Fuses - 3 MEGA, one Class T Littelfuse 150A fits Victron Lynx - SF Bayarea $80

These were intended for a Lynx Distributor setup. The 150A class T had the openings slightly enlarged to fit the Victron Lynx shunt. See here for pictures: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/victron-putz.65631/#post-872517 The 3 Mega's are 80, 100 and 125A

  • Post in thread: [NO LONGER AVAILABLE] Two Victron Quattro 48/10000 - Spokane, WA - Price reduction

I thought used equipment was fine if it meets the following criteria? If so, it seems to me this equiment meets the criteria: The solar PV system is new or being used for the first time. The credit can only be claimed on the “original installation” of the solar equipment...
  • Post in thread: WTB: Sol-Ark 12K sold

Looking to buy one of these all in one Sol-Arks, anyone want to sell? Talked with Sol-Ark to split L1 and L2, one line per 120V critical load panel (2 CLoad panels installed). They said this wouldn't be a problem. Only issue with the 12K is shutdown on imbalance, that the 15K could handle...
  • Post in thread: 48v off grid schematic; the disclaimer! Complete solar newbie…

I pieced all this together from reading through/viewing the various information via DIY and other internet sources. Would someone give me a sanity check before I go off the deepend? Purpose is to supply off grid power to select circuits from the main utility powered panel via a manual transfer...
  • Post in thread: 48V CATL LFP module (16S)

Hi Wild. 1st I've read of a battery pack with a fire suppression system, sounds awesome. Which make and model is this pack? Thanks!
  • Post in thread: 48v off grid schematic; the disclaimer! Complete solar newbie…

Hope everyone is well. Updated schematic. I purchased all the equipment and I think I found a class T fuse that will fit the shunt...awaiting delivery. Hoping for sanity check 1.2!
  • Post in thread: Fuse stated amperage and time/current curve

I searched for this and found no reference...apologies if a repeat. I'm curious why the fuse amperage seems to never be met on the fuse opening/time curve? If a fuse is 200 amps, I would expect the fuse to open at 200 amps at some point. The below curve for low amp fuses as an example. The...
  • Post in thread: Breakers for 48V lithium batteries that get up to 54V of current?

your user name is on the tip of my brain on what it means, but I can't quite decipher it. Yes, I saw these. I was looking for a box for this Midnite 125A panel mount breaker and the midnite box in your link has a 100A max. I'm looking to house this single breaker as a disconnect/breaker for a...
  • Post in thread: Victron putz

the fuse I bought is a t type littelfuse 150A (same hole sizes for 110-200A fuses). It will not fit without bungering up the threads. It's 0.5mm off, so I'm going to take the tiniest amount off for it to fit. I'll do that soon and post results. So dissapointed with the lynx shunt regarding...
  • Post in thread: Victron CCGX - Price Drop $325 shipped!

I just bought a Victron MPPT from Watts Happening. Not that a newbie testamonial carries much weight, but I can say it was a pleasure to transact with him. The MPPT arrived posthaste, well packaged and in good order! Also, love his avatar.
  • Post in thread: Carling / Midnite Breaker Feedback

Great question....partly along the reason I asked in the OP. I’d be curious what the mfg support department would say about the housing failure. At least with this style breaker I can grab the brass when torquing, to remove stress from the Bakelite housing.
  • Post in thread: 48v off grid schematic; the disclaimer! Complete solar newbie…

Thanks for the reply Sunshine….sane but sad solar saga…hope that is a short story! Again, a newb, how did you come up with 31A? You think 31A is acceptable on the batts…I think so too due to max amps of 50A. The manual transfer switch will physically disconnect up to circuits from my service...
  • Post in thread: Fuse stated amperage and time/current curve

Thanks Rich. I chose the 1A curve for ease of math. This is a littelfuse curve and it does seem for the 1A that it 'may' open at/above 1.5A? 150/160% of stated rating. I'm curious as I can find nothing on the web for a rule of thumb on this topic....
