    Better safe than sorry.
  • Post in thread: Can you see me now?

Probably best burying your panels at least 6ft deep to avoid detection.
  • Post in thread: Server Rack LiFePO4 batteries. Where to find UK stock?

I was in a similar position as yourself last month. I spent around 3 weeks trying to find Pylontech stock without any luck. Being in the UK it's slim pickings as you likely already know. When I couldn't find anything I started to look at other options. I narrowed the alternatives down to -...
  • Post in thread: feasibility of using solar to mine crypto

With current crypto prices and more importantly the price of battery storage currently It just isn't feasible IMO. Not unless you have a massive amount of cash to invest on a large scale operation and have the perfect location. And even then there are likely better ways that much money could be...
  • Post in thread: Kind of off grid help? UK

Hey, I've done something similar in the UK. 'Kind of' Off Grid, I do have access to the grid, but do my upmost not to use it for anything other than charging my batteries when I get negative rates from my Energy provider and loads that are just too big for my inverter. I built my own battery...
  • Post in thread: Warning when buying EVE LF280K Grade-A cells with new terminal type!

I've sent lots of photos to Amy of the damaged terminals and the packaging. I'm just waiting to hear back. Hopefully something can be done. I'll be sure to report back with how I get on.
  • Post in thread: What is your favorite off grid device-appliance-gadget?

My Goldshell Mini Doge Miner. It heats my bedroom for around 260W and mines Doge ?
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

As above. I also used the nickel plated busbars that came with my cells (no copper washers). You can request nickel copper busbars as opposed to aluminium ones from Seplos as well as busbars that will fit the EVE double terminals, as this is what I did with my last Seplos Mason order. Whether...
  • Post in thread: DC DIN rail breaker up in smoke and now looking for replacement

This is slightly worrying. I'm building a combiner box ATM and have the same breakers, albeit the 63A version. Would be interesting to see the insides of it if you ever pull it apart.
  • Post in thread: Seplos Mason DIY kit review (4/5)

I've just ordered a set. Nothing special, not a Temco or anything, just a mid range set from Amazon with good reviews. Needs to be done. I'm obsessively buying crypto mining rigs & extra storage and need the extra inverting power/battery capacity these connectors will afford. Worse things to...
  • Post in thread: Seplos CAN BUS RS485 48v 200A 8S-16S BMS

Someone has beat me to it. Seplos v29 Firmware
  • Post in thread: Advice on PV Array Size and Charge Controller Choice

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I don't want to feed back to the grid at all. It's just not worth it in the UK. We're charged 0.41p/$0.49 a KWH and paid around £0.4p/$0.5 feeding back. I'm planning to mine crypto with any excess.
  • Post in thread: Share your success

Here's my usage for the last 12 months. The grid consumption figure is a little misleading as I only really use the grid when my energy provider either pays me to use electricity or in the depths of winter when I desperately need to top up my battery. But even then I only charge when the rates...
  • Post in thread: My experience getting G99 approval in the UK, for grid tied inverter over 3.68kW

Yeah, thanks. I was actually just reading that after your post peaked my interest in the G98/99 approval again. I have a Quattro II 48/5000 and a Multiplus 48/10000 sat here waiting to be installed. The Quattro would be the one connected to the grid, just checked and it's compliant so could...
  • Post in thread: Batteries not fully charging

All good. Works perfectly connected to the grid in the UK.
  • Post in thread: Let's Get Real about Solar Costs

No sorry. I meant blame the war in itself, not Ukraine particularly. The war will definitely have an impact when Putin cuts the gas supply off, but prices (In the UK at least) have been on the rise for quite some time. Long before the first shots were fired in Ukraine.
  • Post in thread: Server Rack LiFePO4 batteries. Where to find UK stock?

Us Brits always seem to get shafted. If it isn't the exchange rate it's import taxes.
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

Cheers. Yeah the holes are a touch bigger than I would have ideally liked, but still smaller than the EVE busbar holes. As you'll likely already know the terminals aren't quite straight so I needed a little margin of error. Also as it's bare copper were it's been drilled I wanted to leave a...
  • Post in thread: Seplos Mason DIY kit review (4/5)

That's what I did originally with my first Mason. However I recently placed an order for another kit and was told that as the weight of the cable pushed the shipping price up into a higher bracket, including the cable would bump up the postage considerably. So I just ordered the connectors. I...
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

Cheers, but I've already bought the bar now. Plus as you say I'd prefer tin coated copper than aluminium. The busbars Seplos sent didn't seem very good quality at all. 3 Week wait now. I can top balance my cells now I suppose.
  • Post in thread: Seplos Mason DIY kit review (4/5)

I'm gutted the upright cases weren't available when I ordered my first Mason, I only saw the new form factor a couple of days after ordering my 2nd kit. They would have been perfect for my build, would look a lot more professional than two giant black boxes on a £15 plywood dolly.
  • Post in thread: Warning when buying EVE LF280K Grade-A cells with new terminal type!

Haven't done a full capacity test, but they have been performing well for several months now. The damage to the terminals didn't seem to affect them. I ordered a second batch of the same cells and they are comparable. Although not from Amy, from Fogstar this time, I didn't want to run the risk...

Ah OK. Brilliant! That makes my life a lot easier. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
  • Post in thread: Seplos CAN BUS RS485 48v 200A 8S-16S BMS

Now the dust has settled and the adrenaline has subsided I've taken a look at the BMS logs and I think you might be right. One of the cells is reading zero at the time of failure with an accompanying 'Cell differential pressure invalidation Remaining capacity protection Battery low voltage...

Shenzhen Luyuan via Amy Wan. I could have gotten them slightly cheaper elsewhere, but given there is pretty much no option for return when buying from China I wanted to play it safe and they/she has a great reputation.
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

If you think that will be sufficient that should be doable with some offset holes. Massively regretting not buying cells with the old terminals now.
  • Post in thread: Server Rack LiFePO4 batteries. Where to find UK stock?

I bought them from @Amy Wan at Luyuan. She came highly recommended. The cells haven't arrived yet, but I've no complaints so far. If you're struggling to get anything back from Seplos via Alibabe try henry@seplos.com. His comms are excellent. Also I'm not sure if it would be an option, but...
  • Post in thread: My experience getting G99 approval in the UK, for grid tied inverter over 3.68kW

You can check the status here: https://www.ena-eng.org/gen-ttr, just filter by Victron Energy B.V in the manufacturer field on the left hand side.
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

Not really a like for like comparison as the four units required to accommodate 16 cells works out $200 more than a Seplos and you get non of the benefits, such as the BMS, LCD screen and most importantly the form factor. Also theres the additional costs/time involved paralleling all the batteries.
  • Post in thread: custom made battery box for eve LF280K cells

It's actually closer than that, around 1.9mm-ish. I think you've cracked it. Thanks very much.
