you are correct, we did all that. my dad is the certified HVAC tech, not me. we still consult our friend because he stays current on everything. there are a lot of replies from people I can't get them all but I have some updates. I asked the old man for more details. one unit is a 3.5 ton and...

I brought that up, but my mom does not. Wanna add any additional AC units. We're looking at getting several bottles of closed cell Foam spray and spring the attic to help increase insulation. What I wanna do is put a EG4 18k Have both AC's fed off of that prioritize using solar and use the grid...

I would like to take them and the inside air handlers full solar during the day, and only draw from the grid outside from 5pm to 8am. No batteries yet. We have...

  • Post in thread: need advice on signature solar

I installed 2 Eg4 6500ex inverters from Signature Solar back in October of 2023 Everything was fine till I hooked up the batteries and solar to my inverter number 2. Then both units were fried. turned out there was a manufacturing defect. I got both units replaced under warranty with Signature...

The tech said the she checked with her supervisor and confirmed that the ability to communicate with any of the 24 protocols my BMS has was removed when they reprogramed the inverter. Why would she say this? I can understand if she says it's untested and can't guarantee anything. This is two...

  • Post in thread: EG4 6500EX not useing all solar

I did not see that in there, I have a bunch of AGM car battery so that are still good so I hooked them up in 48 V. I wonder if that would cover it.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500EX not useing all solar

im not looking for 1 to 1 but when its at full sun I should be getting like 3Kw's that way more than the load. will it show it going back into the grid side?
  • Post in thread: Looking to power HVAC

I can look if it has one still, but I can plan for a larger breaker if it really needs it but it has been on the current one for years. and they aren't hot. we have 2 sets of breakers on it. one set outside at the unit so you can shut it down without going inside, and a set in the main breaker...

It's a train, 220v so its 2 20amp breakers. One for each phase.

It's a train, 220v so its 2 20amp breakers. One for each phase Yup its two 5 ton units, I know this because we are good friends with our HVAC guy. He helps us out when we have questions or problems. We have had to replace the Capacitor on the Condents are unit twice. That was something we could...

I know it's not blown in, It's the pink fiber glass you can get in rolls and roll it out between the 2x4's. From the 1980s.

Thank you that's extremely helpful, How do you calculate the surge? I don't see it on the sticker. I understand that the draw would be (25 × 120) x 2 Giving me a 6000 watt usage.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500EX not useing all solar

i have 2 EG4 6500EX's but they are not using all the solar available. it is either 100 or 50Ws below the load. is there a setting I'm missing to have it backfeed into my house or at least use all the solar available?

I removed and Sodder the first 8 bms leads. It now reads each sell correctly. But I still can't connect to the bms over rs232 or rs485. It's in over voltage mode because this bms is still set for lithium iron Phosphates battery's and I have lithium ion battery's.
  • Post in thread: Jakiper Battery DIY 48V100Ah 5kwh Home Battery

I got them off battery hookup, they were a good deal. If i could connect I could change the bms settings to lithium ion.

i just got off the phone with Signature Solar tech support trying to get help with BMS communication to jakiper batteries. i was told that even though there are other modes in my inverter they are only there for show. that the other modes have been disabled. It's not well vented, I want to add solar power vents to vent the hot air. It's hitting 120+ In there and we're a high humidity area. I've had humidity in the 80% range in the middle of the day. Still no rain. The big problem is the existing insulation is a fiber glass insulation from the...
  • Post in thread: "edit" Signature Solar not good at communication over phone.

the manual does say 3rd party lithium batteries. it does not say that it has been disabled. why advertise that it has the capability but then disable it without telling anyone? i have seen many products that do say they do not work with anything other than their product. this is off the...
  • Post in thread: "edit" Signature Solar not good at communication over phone.

The point is that they reprogrammed the inverter to remove this option. But left it on the inverter menu and in the manual. It's on thing if it's untested and not guaranteed but to purposely disable while not correcting anything so show the change could be fails advertising.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6500EX not useing all solar

No, not yet. If it's not using the grid should it no sho the grid not being used?
