What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Iirc, (edit) the manual calls for 12" back & side, 24" on mechanical side and 2 or 3' in front. Mine is 12" side & back & 3 1/2' in front. Thanks for the advice.

I think this screen will conceal the unit and block it from strong winds. It ties in with the porch skirt. Those concrete blocks are just temp. holding down landscape fabric. I'll paint the treated wood in a few months when it's dried and I added foam insulation to cover the valves then wrapped...

Does mini field need surge protection?

Thanks again for your replies Tim. I just got done reading what you and others wrote on this thread... https://diysolarforum.com/threads/is-putting-a-lightning-arrestor-to-protect-my-panels-a-good-idea-see-the-picture.64390/page-2 Can I install the 3 600's (3 strings/3 mppt's) in the...

Does mini field need surge protection?

Thank you for the feedback. A direct hit to my house is not very likely due to being surrounded by much taller trees on 2 of 4 sides. The panels are hugging the ground and as I gathered from reading around, they're very unlikely to take a direct hit and if they did, these little spd's wouldn't...

A little spare time here and there as I try to see the fog and bullshit that I believe surge protection might be. Someone's always trying to sell someone something...

Does mini field need surge protection?

I made a couple posts asking for SPD advice. I believe Midnight Solar is what I'll use. This is what they recommend for my house, eg4 18kpv, batteries & pv's... "For your system we would recommend an MNSPD-300-AC outside with a 2p 30a breaker in the outside breaker box to protect everything...

Oops. It's the 18k, not the 24 that I'm referring to. Too much going on.

    Siemens QSA spd?

It would appear that Siemens QSA spd does not warranty anything plugged in. Apparently their spd is a pos. I emailed midnight solar with ?'s.

No signature. You can fill it out, but they want the tech's license #, name & company name.

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Before you pull the trigger on that 24k at amazon, you might wanna check out the floor/ceiling mount unit. They only sell it on senville's site and it's the only one on sale ($1,300 before tax/free ship). Why, I have no idea, but it's an aura series unit, so -22f in winter, 10 yr comp/5 yr...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

The hvac tech was once a co-worker of my neighbor who is basically and electrician and the guy, who with my help, who did the entire ac side of my hybrid solar inverter, transfer switch, etc. I would call them for sure. They are "verbally" cool with us doing everything and I had actually found...

What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Senville tech rep answer to my question... why is it recommended for mini split compressors to be protected from rain & sun when central hvac units no not recommend this... "Even though heavy rains cannot damage your AC unit, the winds accompanied by the same rain can leave dirt, leaves, twigs...
