Any explanations for production loss at solar noon?

"It implies that the panel is generating more power than its rated power, which is not possible." Of course that is possible. Why do you suppose NEC says to size fuse and wire for 1.56 Isc?

Reliable product to replace Chinese all-in-one inverter

The Sunny Island + Sunny Boy system is very good. With 1x 6kW SI you can connect 2x 6kW SB, and with over-paneling and multiple orientations, produce close to 12kW approaching 10 hours/day. 6kW to loads, 6kW to batteries. At night, draw 6kW from batteries. SI can surge to 11.5kW for 3 seconds...

Your alternator? There is no neutral. You just have 3 windings. It would apply to 3-phase 4 wire (plus ground) from a generator or the grid. Well, are your windings delta or wye? If wye, there is a neutral. Don't connect load to that or reference that. Only use rectifier (+) and (-). Whether...

    House burned down

Precharge takes care of capacitor inrush. For parallel strings, I think the thing to do would be put a voltmeter across the fuse holder and wait until charging or discharging brings voltage difference to zero. Contactor would have the same issue. Unless the gizmo controlling it did that step...

Reliable product to replace Chinese all-in-one inverter

Those prices ($2000 and $1250) are too good to be true. MSRP of Sunny Island is ~$5750, and US model Sunny Boy was $2500. Street price a bit less. We got bargains on SI in the US due to bankruptcy of a company which bought a huge quantity. Sunny Boys, for off-grid I've tried to buy new old...

    Export forfeited with SCE

Repeated forfeits during the year, over 6 months? Is that something other than NEM 2.0? Did time of use hours change? I've forfeited unused credits at true-up some years. That hurts a bit, but overshooting on consumption and paying retail hurts more. One forum member had paired storage (Sunny...

Reliable product to replace Chinese all-in-one inverter

I didn't know about that but I see what you mean. Existing wire could get cut in a bend, by the new wire which would constantly have a fresh section applied. I think I'll be OK with hand pulls, not much tension or velocity. I could see that being a problem using a tugger. I've been able to do...

The part shows this: I think if you have an AC source with 3 lines driven relative to neutral/ground, voltage from (+) terminal to ground will have the higher ripple. Voltage between (+) and (-) will have lower ripple, but its common mode bounces up and down relative to ground. That is what...

Midnite Solar Announced their new 10kw AIO at Intersolar Today

One way to do that with AC loads (for off-grid operation) is frequency shift. Rule-21 inverters ramp down power output from 100% at 60.5 Hz to 0% at 61 Hz. A motor speed control or heating element PWM (with PFC on AC input) could ramp up from 0% draw at 60 Hz to 100% draw at 60.5 Hz.

    Warpverter

Wattnode has some power monitors, can be used for single, split, or 3-phase. These have communications rather than display. Often used by inverters to measure power at grid, shave imports and exports. https://www.powerwisesystems.com/application/files/2215/1230/2952/Data_Sheet_WNC_MODBUS.pdf

That's probably close for the battery matching. Don't know how much difference it makes, but you could use busbars and 3 cables of equal length for each 3 batteries. Usually we think of a copper plate with bonds. The idea of using Polaris came to me, and another forum member is already doing...

    Warpverter

Yes, monitoring Growatt amps vs. Warpverter Volts and Warpverter Hz is a good test. 1) RTFM 2) Go through the configuration choices of Growatt. (i.e. read the setup data.) People sometimes set the wrong country code and it has different limits from what's needed. Like Japan 100V vs. US 120V...

    Warpverter

If that is Volts-Watts, it keeps AC within regulation. But you still want to avoid over-charging battery. Unlike my Sunny island, your Warpverter will take everything Growatt delivers and stuff it in the battery. How about a battery high-voltage signal to a relay to disconnect Growatt...

Do you keep a spare solar panel?

If you can store them somewhere, just keep all. Got a different orientation available? A wall of the house? How about 5s2p array, two strings of different orientations?

    Warpverter

I think you're going to get AC voltage drop with load and rise if backfeeding to charge battery. Feed-forward regulation means it doesn't correct for that, but within some tolerances (IR drop) it will be OK. Does your Growatt throttle, or just drop offline? Some settings might knock it offline...
