2 of 3 phases completed as of today 11/11/19
Project goal, 75% self sufficient. I am aware that I'd need a boat load of batteries and solar to run 100% off the grid. Truth of the matter is, I'm usually always on 50a shore power. In those instances where I'm really really in need of extra power...
Just wanted to confirm that I've successfully connected to my valence 12xp batteries via 12.12 and a microsoft surface 6 pro. Any the discharge counts are insanely low, SCORE! Thank you to brassmonkey for the guidance.
There's many many many systems in America that are true Delta and do not have a native neutral until after the residential transformer.
In that case, the Delta phases balance themselves.
Thank you again, Justin.
I read the manual (??) and nailed those settings asap.
It's hard to think people connect the shunt wrong...?!?!. I guess being a lineman has me checking connections more than once and never assuming.
My valence batteries had a good life, 16, 23, 37 and 69 for cycle...
So, it's been a while. None the less, trudging along. Got all 8 (230w) panels online, built a DIY combiner and DIY roof access box, bought 2 itron solar controllers, and get her dialed in pretty good so far.
Now, I'm thinking about going to the DIY 280ah lifepo4 3.2v cells and doing a batch of...
My drawing update was to add manual switches, not breakers. That way you'd have a hard isolation point if you needed to work on something.
I would not run breakers and fuses. They will have different timing curves and render the other useless.
I mean, I'm pretty sure Will doesn't have any electrical degrees, so there's that. I have about 20 credits left to obtain mine. Unfortunately for me, I started mine while I was doing an OTJ apprenticeship for an electrical trade that paid for my schooling as long as I kept a 3.0. I then decided...
I could. I have split phase with 2 inverters. I'd be better off with one huge bank like I run now, but the thought of equipment failure kind of makes me cringe.
Goal, 75% self sufficient.
Current situation:
50amp shore power
5500watt Onan genset
Factory ATS switch with auto genstart
3 rooftop ac units
4 138ah valance 12v Batts
I'm 90% of the time hooked to 50amp shore power. With that being said, a $340 power bill each month sucks too.
Am I better...
