Thanks! Yes I noticed that! I wondered if each battery's internal BMS has disconnect via bluetooth or something else perhaps. The 400 amp fuse between the two lynx is main disconnect?
Not familiar with Lithionics batteries other than price.
Looks like a similar debate about breakers &...
Yes, they were done 2 yrs ago & are 2D since I no longer have AutoCad... So one is from top, one is from front. There are 4 batteries, 4 prismatic cells each.
The Lynx distributors have megafuse at each connection point, so each of the four batteries would be fused. I had not included fuse between Lynx dist and inverter
Other interesting suggestion per the attached Vanlife Outfitters diagram is that:
LITHIONICS RECOMMENDS FIVE FEET
OF 2/0 CABLE BETWEEN YOUR BATTERIES AND THE MAIN DISCONNECT.
I assume this means the total combined length of wire to the main disconnect should be ≤ 5 feet?
Thanks again!!
I do plan to add solar before considering a second alternator, I have room for about 500-600 watts up there with my roof A/C and Maxair fan. I could get a bit more if I can find some physical sizes that will work more to my advantage.
Thanks! Charging via shore power (Victron Multiplus II), alternator (Victron MPPT), & solar TBD. Will probably add Nations second alternator at some point.
Newbie here, I'm about to drop the hammer for 4pcs JK BMS B2A8S20P-Heat-CAN from Hankzor, have 16 302ah CATL cells, and Victron Multiplus II for 12v .4s4p system for my RV.
Adding the 4 Class T fuses for each 12v pack in parallel is pretty spendy...they mention a discharge diode option; is...
I'm planning a 4s4p (16 cells) 12v 1200 Ah system for my RV and need high power density cells to conserve space (Sprinter van) as wife & I would like to power our 110v roof air for at least a few hrs to catch sleep boon docking.
I'd love to buy from Docan but they won't be getting anything more...
I had started building a lithium battery system for our Sprinter van little over 2 years ago.
Well, I'm finally back at this battery project after a VERY long medical hiatus.....
Refresher....my wife needs A/C when we boondock with our campervan and had started building a LARGE (1200 amp hour)...
Wow! Thanks so much guys!
Any thoughts on that particular cell? The Eve 304ah one?
Also, thoughts about ordering from China stock vs USA stock if I can wait 2 months? Looks like I could save around $500.
Thanks, had been thinking that 280ah from Docan might be the best bet. They do list 300ah shipped from China if I want to wait...I hear it's about 6 weeks to delivery.
I'm planning to connect qty 4 4s packs with 4 separate 100a BMS. Looking at JK smart BMS with active balancing. Thoughts...
Thanks for the reply, I agree & have also had great success with dielectric grease to reduce / eliminate corrosion!
In this case, I want to protect against corrosion AND improve conductivity between irregular surfaces subject to very high current. Dielectric means electric insulator, or at best...
After lots of setbacks, I'm nearing my actual camper battery build, and hoping for feedback & catching of my mistakes via this extraordinarily wise and helpful resource.
Thanks in advance, Randy
While re-reading the JK BMS requirement for parallel connections....
"If you need to use BMS in parallel,
Fast Class T Fuse must be added to each battery pack.
Or discharge diode (high power diode selected according to load)"
I have no experience using a diode as a discharge device.
Is this a...
Thanks so much in advance for input! Newbie. I have the MULTIPLUS-II 12/3000/120-50 2X120V inverter, Cerbo GX and GX touch 50, and am planning qty4- 4S 300Ah prismatic packs in parallel, hoping to be able to run my 120v roof air (Dometic Penguin II w/ soft start) for at least a few hours. It...
My goal is to top balance qty 16 304Ah CATL prismatic cells that are currently all sitting at 2.90v except 1 cell that measures 2.88v.
My question is how to achieve this efficiently?
The 16 cells will eventually be wired in groups of 4 series connected cells and each of the 4 "12v" packs with...
THANKS!!
A lot of folks talk about putting class T fuses in line, but they seem pretty spendy & less convenient than breakers. My 4 JK BMS's are rated at 200A so I'm planning to use 200A breakers and 2/0 wire from each 4s pack & making parallel connection via Victron Lynx, then 4/0 wire & 300A...
Yes, 12v 1200Ah
Wife wants A/C, hoping to run roof air overnight for sleeping when off-grid
I'm borrowing some of the details from the attached design, which uses 4 lithionics 300Ah batteries that I can't afford, so I'm hoping to roll my own.
My naive / newbie understanding of runaway from...
There actually are four 300Ah batteries in parallel.
The JK BMS (B2A8S20P-CAN) info from Hankzor suggests using T Class fuse when wiring multiple BMS in parallel, per the below. I was thinking (naively) I could substitute circuit breakers because of cost and convenience, with the added...
Thank you so much for your wise counsel! I plan to use MRBF fuses & blocks as you suggest, they certainly are a bargain compared with class T fuses, and they will be easy to mount.
I'm just curious about the diode, I'm imagining an appropriately sized one will be lots of $$$
