My 1kw system is finally....finally finished.
Specifications;
PV panels- 4- 24v
Victron mppt- 150/60-TR
Victron BMV-712 battery monitor
Inverter- 24v input 2kw output Giandel (you can see the white remote start cable)
Battle Born batteries- 2- 12v 100ah in series for 24v
Battery swiches- 3-...
It like to make or maybe purchase a transfer switch so I can, obviously, manually quickly switch between solar (inverter) and grid and not have to shut down the appliance or device that's being used. I figure if I flip the switch fast enough there wont be any loss of power to the device.
For...
My 1kw 24v PV system became operational today. So far there have been no problems and I'm amazed how well the Victron controller works.
The mppt is charging two Battle Born 12v-100ah batteries in series making it a 24v 100ah system.
I don't know that exact settings that should be used on the...
This looked pretty good but then Nate says, "no longer recommended"....but should use Victron Lynx Distributor. $225
Take a look at this-
Build DIY Bus bar
It sure would be nice to have a clean and neat bus/fuse system.
What do you think?
Thanks
This is supposed to be funny.
I've found a simple way to double the PV daily yield of my array which is 2 kW. Usually, the array only produces 2 kWh per day. Today, a bright sunny one, produced 4.1 kWh after the minor improvements which I describe below.
The following method is thoroughly...
Rant forums would have massive traffic.
First topic would be about stupid time wasting solar youtube videos by theatrical clods with cameras on a stick showing the most important thing to them- their face, and how they can only express themselves using their hands. "Don't forget to...
With supposed "supply chain" problems having a real effect on getting things, I need your recommendation on batteries.
Power storage requirements- 24v 100AH (I suppose that 12v batteries in series would be the best approach)
Price is important and so is quality and I don't want to burn down...
The Victron IP65 charger (bluetooth) is charging a new BB using the IP65 default values for Li-ion batteries.
The charger/bluetooth indicates the charging is in Absorption with a voltage of 14.27 and 0.0A
The VictronConnect (expert settings) says that Float voltage is Disabled.
Battle Born...
I'm new to this and my 1 kW (24v) system is running very well.
Here's a curiosity- though there's full Sun and the batteries are charged to Float, when I put a load on the system of 90w, through the inverter, I'm running totally on batteries UNTIL the battery voltage drops to about 27v and...
Even when my M+ has fully charged the batteries at night and they're "Float" the M+ consumes electricity. Over night it's almost 700w. That's way too much.
Is there a setting to stop the Multi from charging the batteries after the batteries are in Float?
Here's an odd situation that happened today.
I shut down my system (24v- 2kW) so I could remove an unnecessary temperature wire on my two Battleborn "in-series" batteries. Note- I shut down each component using battery switches beginning at the input to the SCC, then shut down the Mulitplus...
My system is 2kW feeding two series Battleborn's for a 24v-100ah storage.
I'll be installing a Multiplus Compact 24-2000 (2000-50a) inverter/charger
Now that part I've become more and more confused about is the grounding of the entire system- both AC portion and DC portion.
I assume this...
I've got a Multiplus 24 2000 and it works very well.
The problem I'm having is I lose all of the solar generated energy at the end of the day (let's say 2 kW) after switching from "Inverter" to "On". "On" will fully charge the battery and supply AC loads simultaneously. That's fine but I'm...
'Just connected my Rasp 3B+ to my system using Venus os. That part works fine.
The BMV and MPPT are both connected with VE direct cables
The BMV-712 is found on Venus
The MPPT 150/60 is NOT found on Venus
I tried changing the cables but no difference.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks
Presently the positive and negative wires exiting from my combiner box are simply laying on the ground. I want to put them into conduit and bury them (pvc)...so the lawnmower doesn't chop 'em up. What is the best means of putting them in conduit- 2 wires (positive and negative) in 1...
I'm trying to figure out optimal fixed panel tilt for my latitude and need some help.
I'm at North 40° West 75° (about)
The panels will be in a fixed position facing True South.
What angle would you suggest?
Thanks,
Peter
Nothing's easy!
Here's the breaker I'm trying to wire up; CHTAIXI Breaker
Problem is.....I can't figure out which side in the Source (power side) and Load side (device DC is being sent to)
'You have any idea?
I purchased a Victron Multiplus 24/2000 inverter. It hasn't arrived yet.
I'm concerned that it'll backfeed the grid though it seems there are some settings that'll prevent that.
In other words- with the grid AC feeding into the Multiplus (and also my BB batteries connected to it) I want to...
I'm trying to figure out how to correctly wire up a Victron BMV-712 (Smart) to my system.
Batteries are- 2- 12v 100ah Battle Born in series= 24v
The Victron instructions are clear, somewhat, but don't include a 24v installation procedure.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Here goes again. I'm now in the market, again, for an automatic transfer switch so it can switch between grid and PV (inverter output) instantly so the computers or refrigerator wont shut off.
I read about MOES but want to stay away from it- have read too many complaints.
Another possibility...
Here's how to check an A, AA, AAA, C or D Alkaline battery for level of charge without using anything except gravity;
- Hold the battery vertically about an 1" off of a hard surface with the negative side facing down
- Drop the battery
- If it bounces, it's very low on charge or mostly dead
-...
Can I use this switch as a simple "disconnect" between the PV panels and the SCC. Yes, the fuses are missing but I was going to put some sort of conductive metal where they'd be. When turning this switch off, the contacts move really fast. The panels are already fused at the combiner box at...
I use a Raspberry pi/Venus for a Cerbo GX. Works really well EXCEPT, several times a day the BMV-712 gets "disconnected" and I have to reboot the Cerbo/Rsp.
The USB to VE-Direct cables are DIY.
Also, the odd (bad) thing is before installing the Cerbo/Rsp the Victron MPPT Bluetooth connection...
I'm trying to determine the correct wire size to connect from the 24v battery bank (2- 100ah Battle Born in series) to my 2000w inverter given the following particulars;
- Distance from battery bank to inverter= 5 feet (10 feet round trip....is that correct to consider when sizing?)
- Maximum...
My Multiplus 24/2000 arrived today and I'm preparing to wire it up.
Our off-grid PV system is a 2kW into two BB batteries in series for a 24v.
No grid back feeding will be done but I'll take advantage of the incoming AC to provide an uninterruptible AC supply hopefully with solar priority...
Well, here's another curiosity. I now have a 1.5 kW array (2s3p) and the system runs quite well in full Sun up to about 400w output from the panels and charging the batteries and then feeding the Inverter. The MPPT shows "Float" so all is well. However, with no load, when I put a heavy load...
I've installed my Multiplus Compact 24v-2000
The batteries connected to the Multiplus are two Battleborn in series for a 24v system.
What I need to know are;
- In the Multiplus Charger tab- what are the settings? I'm getting conflicting information what they should be.
Thanks
My system is a 1.5 kW array feeding into 2 series BB LifePo batteries as a 24v system.
The batteries, because of the way I use them rarely get below 98% state of charge (hope that's the correct term).
Question; am I harming the batteries by not reducing their state of charge to a very low...
Still trying to develop a proper off grid system layout and placement. By way of background, I hope to have a total 2.5kw array separated into 2 different arrays on our house's roof with the wiring routed to the basement. Array 1 will feed 1 MPPT-1 and Array 2 will feed the second MPPT-2. Both...
