So besides the garage not being a ground mount, technically the rest is. Built a pergola this summer with 8 panels atop, put 4 on the coop, 4 behind the house, and built an extension onto the garage to house 8 panels. On the garage sets 18 panels for a total of 42 which is probably my max, as I...
Ok, what has everyone done to protect your home/system from a possible EMP?
Steps I've taken are as follows: I've installed multiple Siemens FS PRO 140's on the AC side of things. I've also installed ferrites on just about all my power cords and lines. I did not go with the pricey ones from...
I've kind of solved this problem by using a heat pump dyer. I was able to secure an open box from best buy with a 3 year warranty for somewhere around $300 US. We also went with a heat pump water heater. No problem running everything at once. I also believe we can get a tax credit for the...
I know how the AIO's work to an extent. The EG4's(6500s) are easy plug and play and anyone can hook them up with a very basic understanding of wiring. Victron appears to be the next level, so before moving there, I wanted to make sure I had a complete understanding of things. While my questions...
Guess my understanding of it is that with the positive going in, their would have to be a negative somewhere, hence the battery is sucking up the the solar. Pretty much what @hwy17 said. The graph is identical on the positive and negative curve, although slightly higher on the positive side...
I just installed 10 of the Hyperion panels from SS to use for charging my batteries along with their solar charger. I guess time will tell if it was a good investment. At the price, I'll take that chance.
I just finished the install this afternoon. I'm only looking at getting use out of them from sunrise till a little afternoon as they are on the Eastside of my garage. I wanted to get a head start on charging my battery bank realizing I was missing some potential. I won't get the the bifacial...
Hello all! My system consists of 2 eg4-6500ex's in split 240v, 6 eg4 lifepower 4's, 16 Q Cell panels(400 watts), and 16 Boviet panels (370watts). The system has been up and running without issue since July 22 of this year. We've had several cloudy days recently so I manually switched the...
Most of my other priorities have been met. Off site food storage at multiple locations, bug-out location etc. I was just wondering from a prepped mindset, what others have done or just ones thoughts in general. My assumption was that most folks on this forum go solar for independence.
SS decided to warranty the inverters with a store credit. This was only after sending them pictures/ video of the multi-meter readings of various points. I also had to send them back the data log of each inverter before they would warranty anything. But then found out that sending them the log...
To be honest I was trying to cut cost some where, but it appears for a completely integrated system, I would need to get the Victron charger. I'll look to offset cost by selling the old equipment. As the system stands now my bill has dropped from 330$ down to 70$ monthly. So I'm happy with the...
I just installed the EG4 Chargeverter along with the EG4 Solar Charger. They are working in conjunction with my two EG4 6500EX's and 6- Lifepower4's. I went this route as I had trouble with my original two EG4 6500's and had to send them in for warranty.
Shameless plug here: SS handled the...
My pergola build with another 4 panels above the chicken coop. As long as its structurally sound I'd say go for it. My only issue was that my angle was off for the accumulation of snow during winter, so I'm glad we haven't had much thus far.
So has anyone thought about setting up bi-facial panels as a privacy fence? I know some of us run into issues, running out of roof space limiting our potential gains. What are your thoughts pro's and con?

Any ideas on the above clip.....It appears to happen when 5000 watts of solar is coming in. Its only on one inverter and typically has a light load(frig, ceiling fans, freezer). Also this is a warranty replacement inverter.
Micro-air Easy Start
I've heard and read a lot of good reviews about this one. As always do your own research and don't take some random guys advice off of the internet.
Question regarding a Victron setup similar to the one Adam De Lay uses.
1)Does it run off batteries solely? As in the charge controller sends power to the battery and the battery in turn sends it to the loads.
2)Once the batteries are completely charged, does the charge controller send the...
So far good. Given the season and that they are not at an optimal angle. Today, I almost witnessed them hit 1000 watts as the sun is out( with the Suns angle they are shaded during the winter). They should serve me well for what I want them for, early morning charging from sun up till noon.
OK, just received my Chargeverter and looking for some suggestions. My plan is to wire it directly to my panel by way of a 30 amp double pole breaker. It appears this can be accomplished by way of the blue and brown L1 and L2 wire with the ground going to the ground bar. First, does anyone see...
Off topic. Is your PV wire 12/2 Romex? If, so are your polarities correct? The placement of the wires also appear to be at two different locations. Either way hope you get everything figured out. There is a proper sequence to firing everything up.
Need suggestions on Bus Bar size. Looking to add one EG4 LifePower 4 battery every other month and want to ensure I have my bus bar sized right. I'll have a total of 12- 48V batteries(I have 6 now that run to Pike Industries bus bars). Thoughts on size and company?
Possibly the wrong thread, so my apologies if so. There has been discussion about the 6500's not liking the AC in from the grid. Some have tossed around and tried the EG4 Chargeverter as a fix for this issue.
Has anyone tried using something like the EG4 3000HEV-48 and the following...
Secured a new eg4 life power 4 battery. This brings my total to 7. I turned off everything as needed and wired the battery up after charging them all to full. I followed this turn on sequence. 1. Turned battery breakers on ( ensured all dips were where they needed to be before hand, the...
I went ahead and attached a NEMA 14-30R outlet and a 30 amp dbl pole breaker. The panel in the garage is also wired for a standby generator so this should allow me to feed the panel and directly into the Chargeverter if grid power is down and the sun has not been out in a couple days. My next...
