Stepped into solar thing last Spring 2022 but had issues getting the project started (20 panel and 2 EX6500). I’ll start after the error 61 was resolved. The initial response times via email and phone with SigSolar techs was good. We did all the troubleshooting tests, FW updates and multimeter...
Is it possible to set the EG4s to power the load (sub) panel only using solar and batteries and using AC power main panel only to recharge batteries when the PV Array cannot?
You don’t need to turn it off if you haven’t connected it to your internet. To disconnect I just do the Wi-Fi config again and put a BS password for my internet, the inverter fails to connect and I exit the app. Do that for each inverter you have.
Log in to the app to be sure you got it to...
My system also causes lights to flicker. It is worse during the day after the batteries are 100% SOC and the PV is only needed for AC output. At that point the AC output voltage also has higher fluctuation ranges, I'll insert screenshot from today. For example, my microwave light was flashing...
The only issue I had when updating this weekend was, I had to restart the program once for two of the 6 packs. Otherwise, all went well.
I did it the way @Markus_SignatureSolar explained. Fabricated a cable as shown in the video by @Zapper77.
The packs all reflect the same "Full Bat Cap" of...
Some hang up at 90V some do not. It also isn't a matter of low morning light; I have had it hang 90 all day on cloudy overcast days losing 50%+/- production. I am using FW 79.67. The update appears to have released PV from 90V. Used to stay at 90v until it felt like jumping to full voltage, now...
The recent firmware update has changed wiring and seems to have improved the inverters operation.
This could help, click the orange download for the PDF. Page 13 has the inverter with reliance MTS.

Bought an orange pi 3 lts, downloaded solar assistant, flashed the sdcard. Followed SA site guide on preparing device and starting device. No Solar Assistant WiFi access point to be found. Two EG4 6500 inverters.
Here's color code for you at a micro level of 5-hours and 2-hours rather than the macro level 24-hour. As the time period is shortened SA regurgitates AC output data that more precisely matches what the inverter's display spits out in the videos. The 24-hour period gives a better visual of how...
@BenFromSignatureSolar
The FW 79.66 does NOT resolve PV low voltage issues. It does not hang at 90V any longer but now it simply fluctuates in a low voltage range until the PV breaker is turn off/on or just wait for the inverters to eventually get to full voltage. Turning the PV breaker...
I have 2 EX6500, spring 2022 units, the update didn't resolve their three big issues that I can test:
- Flickering lights when PV charging, then strobing at 100% SOC;
- Both displays report incorrect AC output voltage which fluctuates between 119-121V while PV charging; however, the voltmeter...
every time I cycle the batteries the date and time resets to 2020.
So now I have to reset it again.
Also, this is a screen shot after the batteries were charged to 100% SOC with the SS charger. Today, right now....
What do you mean by "lifted" the output grounds?
I have same issue on 2P2. Only did the flash thus far. I have both internal inverter bonds active. Not using "user".
I'm not using utility at the moment, I have that breaker off.
My PI shows same data
Yes, but that math applies to four strings. A little difficult when everything is in yellow. Should it not resolve on its own, it could amount to a 25-28% production loss if left unattended on cloudy, low production days.
79.66 does prevent the inverters from hanging at 90V but now remains at...
His #47 post does not state to what FW version he is referring. I was told on 01032023 it is 79.02 here:
https://diysolarforum.com/threads/eg4-use-vs-bms-communication-settings.52856/post-674474
EG4 site does not have a newer version than the one we were discussing in those 01032023 posts.
I'm...
After reading a lot of this forum you'll get of feel of which ones to skip, sometimes even put on ignore. Arrogance, rather than avuncular behavior, abounds in some.
The math may look problematic because I used the total (hyperVOC) volts from Midnite Solar's sizing tool, but I did typo the 247. That should have been 237, making a mixed 4S2P X2 total 467 volts. I also forgot the "X2".
That creates a great situation for me, and I happen to have one combiner...
You mean like...off grid, like this person? Posted 2 days ago.

here is another off grid...
I don't doubt you.
Setting 10 has 120 output selected on both inverters. Hopefully someone with knowledge or experience with this sort of thing will assist in resolving.
