Ok, here in Charlotte NC, the habitat for humanity has stores where companies and anybody else donates stuff like goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.
Anyway, the local RE-STORE as they call themselves had a slew of solar stuff on the shelf.

It was $50 at the store... I didnt buy it, but it got me thinking, how cool to build a Lifepo4 pack into this... and the cooler will keep cells warm in the winter...
Really interesting panel. Able to app control and monitor everything it seems…
@Will Prowse any chance something like this could be reviewed better than this guy did?
Dang it... I was just tinkering working on my “generator” I’m building...
I figured a few quick twists with my leather man tool wouldn’t be a problem... just a tiny slip...
(I know... finish one first...)
Anyway, I had a 350W panel, and I cleaned out my suburban, so I thought...
Why not set it between the luggage rails...
What do you think?
I picked up some 400A tinned copper bussbars, standoffs, bulkhead terminals, t class fuse holders… a ton (almost literally) of stuff… and I’m awed again how large these things are.
I’ll post up some pics once I get it all in.
I was shopping yesterday, and noticed these panels… I was aware of them for the smart breakers and so on, but one thing I didn’t notice before is the conductors DO NOT ATTACH TO THE BREAKERS!
all wiring attaches to the panel board… this makes for a very tidy install… no conductors have to...
I got invited to bid on a new venture mining operation... all electrical and HVAC for the job... 5500 KILOWATTS.
Solar to be added after system is in operation...
No details on it yet, just took it home.
Looks like a 20kW model.
Service company couldnt get it started.
So they replaced it, and the neigjbor asked me to come get it.
Any advice where to stsrt?
I bought a non working nature power 1800W solar generator.
The SLA inside was totally dead, and it didn't respond to weeks of charging.
But the unit itself is great.
1800VA pure sine inverter, a charge controller and 6 nema 5-14 ac outlets.
The unit also has an always on dual USB and cigarette...
I figure it will make a fine service vehicle, and I can put my electrical company logo on it...
Pack the 17’ box it’s solar panels to present the look of solar charging... it would only take a solid month to charge off the rooftop panels... but I think the array could power my shop and home for...

I have gotten permission from the HOA to submit my plans for installing solar on my condo.
I am thinking I can fit 8000watts on my south facing roof, and setup the battery’s and inverter in the attached outbuilding.
My house loads sub panel is in there, and there is an old carrier wall mounted...
So… just browsing around looking for LFP SG’S found this… 10% of the full price… figured it was scam, but pulled the trigger… it’s coming from srilanka, so two months out… I will report back if/when anything arrives.
Alrighty…
Let’s figure a use case, and make plans to build this up into a useful system.
I figure I will set it up in my shop.
ATM, I only have a #6 feeder to the shop, so I will need to bump that up to #2, so, I’m going to need a trench.
It’s a 60x40 roof with east west facing, so solar...
I found this for $10 at a goodwill type store.
Put batteries in, and attached a set of meter leads to it and it functions as a good ohm meter, but I need 300.00 in cables to use all its functions...
I get the clerk on the phone and I ask him for a price on a 16 and a 20 kW standby generator with transfer switch and he says are you sure it's not gigawatt He puts me on hold and walks back and comes back to the phone and says are you sure it's not gigawatt and I assure him that I am positive...
The main transformer is frigging huge... at least 65Lbs...
It is an ALPHA technologies ups... boards look like from the 80s...
Anybody want anything from it?
I got the 100a dc breaker/fuse combo and the ac panel breaker and outlets for myself.
Several bits and wires etc looked useful...
