New 12v 100ah mini LFP batteries triggered my interest. How small can we go? Final dimensions 22 x 21 x 11 and about 120lbs. I could make it a little smaller, but wanted some clearance between the bottom of the EG4 3000 and the ground for ventilation.
The breakers are on the back side...
Yeah, thanks all for the comments (I can't quote them all) but what got me thinking, was that most of us are vulnerable to the quality of our Chinese all in one inverters. Thank goodness they never fail.....
Thanks all for the ideas on how this might be able to work. It would seem that leaving a lead acid starter battery in the loop helps, and being certain that the alternator will never output higher than the LFP battery BMS cutoff voltage also helps.
Finally putting wiring a little too small...
Yeah, I like the fact that they will automatically handle 12V - 48V at 40A. This could realistically put 2000W into 4 Serial 100AH 12V batteries. Such a nice tidy little solar cart.
But I want to find people who have tested this out and recommend it.
What is the sweet spot for the SPF5000ES? I see David Poz is quite happy with 2 - Growatts totally offgrid.
I was planning to start up with solar and 1 Growatt grid-tie to help me with my AC during sunshine but handle all other loads from the grid.
I would add another Growatt, auto converter...
These are back to $179 while others seem to be trying to increase the price for 100ah LMP back to $300. It seems that the $200 price might be here to stay.
I got one at $168 before Xmas expecting to have to return it. It passed the charging and capacity test and delivers 100a flawlessly.
"permanently" changes everything. Most campers are intended to be mobile. As long as you will never wish it was mobile again, you can do anything you want. Rip everything out and declare it a detached bedroom.
No, there is only one. (the second one was only temporary to brace the install so you get a prize for finding the hidden gem) This Anderson connector is for adding a second 48v battery pack to give more than 100ah, or to hook 2 of these systems together for 220v split phase.
If using a Chargeverter, you still need either a autotransformer or an isolation transformer to make a neutral for 120v loads, correct? Does the isolation transformer provide any additional benefit over the auto transformer in this case?
You keep taking me down wild and wonderful rabbit holes...
I don't see any confirmation of the mini size. They are showing dimensions that are the same as the older larger battery. Perhaps just not updated the Amazon listing? I wonder if this is the LiTime/PowerQueen/Redodo mini, or the GrenerPower/Cyclenbatt/Lipuls mini form factor, or something...
Are there other sources of used and refurb panel like SanTan that are recommended by the forum.
I find Solar Steals in Yuma AZ and Clean Energy in Ft Myers and SunGold in CA.
You haven't had any problems with displays going dead?
Have you set up the Shine wifi communication stick on your 5000ES?
Jeff Motes replaced his 5 SPF5000ES with SolArk15K because of these problems among many other.
Of course you are right.
You must have amazing discipline. Some of us are tempted with a full truck load of solar panels (350 per truckload) that are going for only a couple dollars per panel.
This auction is for 15 truckloads of 350 panels per truckload. Only the first truckload has any...
Up on top, and upside down (not shown) are 2 PowerQueen / LiTime / Redodo minis, (5.25 x 10.25 x 9) and down below are 2 GrenerPower / LiPuls / CyclenBatt / XZNY mini (5.4 x 9 x 8)
A weight of less that 38lb should be expected as the case can be much lighter. Hope it delivers what you need. Regarding size I don't see the vertical dimensions, but it looks too tall to compete with your Redodo minis
Yes, solar is the first place to invest. Then a switch to manually manage the connection that you only turn on at highway speeds. Then I will be measuring amperage while driving to see what is really flowing into the LFP house battery.
