Well i was excepting the behavior i explained and understood for EG4 docs about the 18k but EG4 system design guy is telling me NO and Millsan1 is doing what i do plan to do with the 18k....so i guess i will disturb Millsan1 to be sure we are in the same configuration goals before buying for 25...
Right after the first email exchange explaining my actual config, what i do plan to add and my goals, SS told me that AC coupling with the GEn port was the solution. They did not offer any alternatives. Now, i am waiting for the feedback of the representatives after they told me about the weird...
SS just answered me today and yes GRID, Inverted power from batteries and or directly connected solar array to the 18k AND AC coupled power are available all together when grid is ON. When grid is down the limit is 12 kw from the 18 k added to the AC coupled array.....like Milsan1 and many other...
Well i am no expert and the person who wrote me this is an EG4 employee of the System Design Team so i trusted them.
You seems to have a similar system to the one i am building....and it seems to run just fine, if you are ok i will pm you for more details, thank you
When batteries are full, loads are smaller than production and grid down you need to put the extra power somewhere and there's not so you need to stop the ac coupled array production. To do so the 18k will ramp up the frequency to 61.2 Hertz on the GEN port and the ac coupled inverter will shut...
Hi
i am in a kind of close situation with a 8200 sq feet house, 8 AC (2 fna and coil units of 5 tons each and 6 mini split of 1.5 and 2 tons), pool pumps, etc etc House is NOT insulated and i am in Cancun... AC is required all year long. I did serious efforts on energy consumption by investing...
Well power company do not have nothing to do here as in case.of power grid failure you have to isolate your house from the grid to generate a power on your house grid with battery and second inverter in order to restart your main gt inverter with your solar array. the main problem is when your...
Thks guys !
Yes that's tough but i do believe more or less 90 % of person who own a grid tie system and want to go further are trying to solve the same problem : making the best use of the money in a system that will provide back and safety.
Skybox : it is CLEARY written...
Here is a typical day with voltage graph of the 2 strings : max around 589 volts and all day long in btw 450 and 500 volts.... As rewiring is impossible without breacking 30 m of pure concrete inside the house... Well for the moment Sol ark or Victron and for the same budget of the sol ark the...
HI
I am looking for the affordable and effective system to backup a grid tie system (2 string of 5000 watt each, total of 10 kwh with DC voltage of 600 volts) WITHOUT battery (for the moment, will add some later of course).
New inverter to proceed this AC coupling should have/be able to :
- do...
I will post here the answer of SS once i got it for sure. Meanwhile and in order to be understandable by the basic human being i am....here are the basic questions i still try to find a clear answer...if any expert could light my path...i would be happy !
Each time a 10 kwh array is AC coupled...
SS told me that...and i still can not figure out why because it does not make any sense...at all and would kill a lot of interest for the 18k...
I asked basic questions for my knowledge and understanding as i am buying a product to them :
- if AC coupled to 10 kwh array through the GEN port on...
HI
Maybe worth to check on the Fronius Micro Grid system that has been developed with Victron. Basically, the grid tie inverter has a special mode called Micro Grid that let it work without the grid. You need a Victron Multiplus as brain of the system to handle the different flow of AC and...
Got answer from MPPT, short is : Hybrid V2 MPP solar inverters CAN NOT DO AC COUPLING.
"'Hi Sir,
Our inverter can't do AC coupling with other inverters because we are not sure whether this unit's AC output voltage, frequency, or quality can be accepted by the grid-tie system you had. It may...
Hi
I am in talk with EG4 to finc a way to AC couple my current 9.75 kwh array with Fronius Primo 11.4 with new 18 kwh array and the EG4 18K inverter.
Seems easy, plug the existant 9.75 kwh of the fronius on the Generator Input of the EG4 18K and voila (need to set the fronius into micro grid...
What about the problem of the strings ? If he has let say 2 strings of 5000 watt and DC500V each, how do you wire it to the 2 inverters as those get 2 mppt each ? How to deal with that ? you connect the 2 + wires together of the inverter input and connect to the + wire of the solar array to...
i will receive Das Solar dh144nd 600 watt bifacial, these are n type panels. 116 usd vat included in Mexico... seems some 605/610 and 615 are coming soon... i should receive 31 pcs this week....hope freight has been smooth.....
Hi
i have a champion 100297 model and i use it for backup and i am super interested on how you put automatic start on it, if you do not mind share with me.
Thanks
Vince
i do believe we are in the exact same optic : backup for grid tie and charging EV.
i still own my 2 gassers car but the tri motor cybertruck is ordered.... and i do intend to charge it at home because i have a huge amount of space still available to install solar and i live in Cancun mexico so...
So sorry for being dumb and asking many times things that may obvious to you but not to me. Everyone learn everyday...or should be.
The answer i have been given by SS, the company who is selling the product under its brand, has not really convinced me to the point i came here to ask if.... I...
Hi guys !
I am in the same problem as you....i am in Cancun, got a 9.75 kwh grid tie system for 7 years and plan to add a 12 kwh hybrid system for power outage back and hurricane back up (already got a 10 000 watt LP gas gen back up) and importation is a problem...
do you guys solved it ...
Hi
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am making plan for a similar system and would like to exchange informations with you. I have a 9,75 kwh grid tie system with a Fronius 11.4 kwh inverter that i plan to connect AC couple (connect the 9.75 kwh to the generator input of the eg4 inverter) to...
Victron Quattro 10 000 Watt : https://www.victronenergy.com/inverters-chargers/quattro
Surge at 12 kwh and all is configurable for almost anything. Victron is not cheap but....good stuff. Still trying to figure out if this beast is able to generate ac240v split phase like we need here....
Cost...
Thank you for the answer ! All clear now.
Yes answer from SS is confusing, after 1 week still waiting for their last answer by the way.....
Thanks to all members who took time to answer and help, truly appreciated!
I am sure it does as Victron has a strong partnership with Fronius specifically for this case : https://www.fronius.com/en/photovoltaics/products/all-products/solutions/system-solutions/fronius-microgrid-solution/fronius-microgrid-solution
The problem i see know is that to generate 240 split...
well separating arrays is not always easy...Other problem is also that many modern large system (like mine 9.75 kwh separated in 2 strings) do handle VERY hiigh DC voltage (i am reaching dc650v everyday or so and reached 683 Volt even sometimes) and some inverters can't cope with that. I was...
The biggest problem with Skybox is that it can not be ac coupled when stacked.....as I have 2 strings of 5 kwh each I need to stack 2 skybox....and then I loose the possibility of the AC coupling which was the goal, indeed.
Added to the fact that 3400x2 = 6800 which is the same as sol ark that...
Hi
I ha e the same goal and a similar install : 9.75 kwh of panels and Fronius Primo 11.4. I seriously considered many options and the batteryless function of the MPP 5kwh could work.....if only it can handle high dc power input ( I play btw 550 to 675 dc ....).
We could share idea and...
HI, i will receive a pallet of Das Solar 600 watt bifacial N type next week. On the paper and according to people who used it, it is really good. But huge and heavy panels for sure... Efficiency is very high 22.8% and high temp degradation seems very good. Price was also really really good...
