bms heat generation

I have my batteries in a sealed and insulated cabinet. Does the bms generate any measurable amount of heat? It's in the basement on a concrete slab. Should I put it outside the box or is it ok inside? The box is almost the exact dimensions of the cells. It's a sp17s005 16s bms from BHU.

The FETs are thermally limited for current capacity. There’s a reason why there are heat sinks on these units.

My JBD and JK BMS temp sensor always is higher than the cell temp sensor even though they are in the same box.

If you’re planning on pulling nameplate from the BMS constantly, it will get warm in an enclosed box. Hopefully thermal management will save any damage. I never had a constant high current draw on it so it was never an issue in my battery box.

I'm building a closet into a wall that will contain 6 packs totaling 90kwh. Each bms is 100a per 15k pack. I'll be sliding each pack onto a shelf and closing the door. My concern is do I leave the bms on the inside of the shelf, or outside of the shelf? Each shelf will have it's own door. Think about your kitchen utensil drawer, 6 of them stacked. Except it's not a drawer, just a hinged door.
