whole house power monitor is soooooo cool!

EasyStart installed. Plumber coming tomorrow to put in the natural gas connection. Big genset gets here Friday.

Quick question: The Westinghouse genset manual says the genset comes with a neutral ground bond. Shows how to disconnect it. I assume since this is a backup genset for my house that I should disconnect the neutral bond?

If you only ever plan to use the generator with your house, the N-G bond in the house is the only one you should have.
But if someone “borrows” your generator, you’ll need to put the bond back in the generator for safety.
Or even if you use the generator without plugging into the house.

I have a neutral bond plug I can pop into the 120V outlet on the genset if it goes portable. Use one on my 2500W Champion inverter genset I use with my camper.

How accurate is the mains power reading? My total on the mains is always about 200W higher than the total of my 16 sensors. I have two spare sensors I keep moving to different circuits trying to find that 200W and cannot track it down. Frustrating.

What is it about freezers and being a power hog. Mines is going on garage sale this weekend.
Planned obsolescence isn't a thing with them - they end up lasting far longer than they should (20+ years is common), often not in the best sealing capabilities.... but cold enough to keep the food from spoiling, and drawing too much attention...

They are sneaky... Never trust a fridge / Freezer ;)

How much I argued with my parents about the two chest freezers... I ended up buying them a new one to solve the drama :D

Plumber was out today and installed the hookup for my genset. $434 to replace a coupler with a T and add a valve and nipple. I would have done it but natural gas stuff scares me, especially when it's on the 1" main line into the house.

Also picked up the new genset and getting ready to hook it all up.

Generator is in its spot with a cover. Hooked up the gas and it's now running its 5 hour burn in. Gas tank is dry as a bone. Love it. Never have to worry about that again.
