What even is this??

I see several generations of equipment necessary to take solar power and convert it to AC. Along with generator backup. Much of which is probably wired around as newer equipment came along. The only thing missing is a bunch of vacuum tubes, huge control panel with blinking lights and a lightning generator. Dr. Vicktor Von Frankenstein would be proud.

Sensible for the legacy (vintage?) equipment to be appraised by an auction house? Or nobody would care?

This is how the Philadelphia experiment started!

I have a NewMar 32 volt 300 watt inverter.

But I get it, its fun to see what you can build from just stuff. My tesla coil everything I needed was lying around the basement. Glass, aluminum foil PVC pipe, oil burner ignition transformer, copper tubing...

I like the fuse in the ceramic light fixture cause I did the exact same thing once. House I grew up in built in 1865 lots of old stuff.

But I hope if I pass and who ever gets my boat isnt a jerk speaking ill of the dead making fun of the stuff I built cause no real intelligence all they know is following codes and plug and play amazon stuff.

My friend bought a house from an 80+ year old retired electrical engineer. House is grid tied but with 15 rooftop panels and this monstrosity in the basement.
Any guesses on what we're looking at here?
Thanks in advance.View attachment 111771

Could it be a real fancy doorbell transformer?

Did the guy go missing, or did they find his body for sure?

(I'm not ruling out time machine)

Without an O&M manual I would be inclined to get the UN arms inspection team involved ??.
When I started designing/ installation of various ESS systems at home, my wife asked if I died would anyone be able to maintain the system, to which I replied NO.
This then spurred me to compiling an O&M manual with schematics/parts ect and to be honest it's a god send - opening up a control box of multiple relays / thermostats / control cabling ect yrs after installing without a schematic is a head ache.
Would advise any DIY installers to at least do a drawing of the as installed installation

Good luck in the de- comissioning.

Lately I’ve went through and cleaned some of my workings up a bit. Removing discontinued items and abandoned circuits. And above all labeled everything so if something happens to me someone, would be able to figure it all out. Clearly I need to have a rethink. He has lots of labels.
I like it though, he was passionate.

Is this to code? I guy I know manages a grid peaking station which was decommissioned for 15 years. It took him two years to restart it. Everyone who knew anything about it was dead. It took two years to figure out how to restart it. Only one in the world.shed922.jpgDC100MWs.jpg

Too much of a coincidence "a friend bought a house" that had all this cool shit.... And your on a solar power forum full of electrical nerds.

No, its yours and you wanted to post it without actually taking credit.
Lol. It's the plausible deniability version of "asking for a friend".

Lol - I wish. Manual likely involves a recently passed man's psychodrama of unfulfilled passions.

It was to be announced at the Party Congress on Monday. As you know, the Premier loves surprises
