EG4 charge amperage has changed.

F80 was a hardware issue with mine. Although I’m sure there could be other causes. His symptoms sound the same as mine though.
Gavin, I watched your video where you talked about f80 error and that SS was going to let you know what caused it. I videoed it happening to mine. As soon as P2P switches from the last bit of solar to battery only, it shuts down with a f80 error. I can turn off the solar before last light and keep this from happening. Did SS let you know what caused it? l'm working on documenting all of my system with pictures to send to technical services at SS.

What battery type are you using?

I wasn’t able to get a concrete response. I think James mentioned that being one of the problems they had. According to SS the only remedy for mine was just to RMA the units.

Update. Last week I received replacement inverters from SS. I have had them running since July 20th with no issues so far. They act completely different than the old ones when they switch between PV and battery. With the new ones switching is unnoticeable. With the old ones there was what seemed like relay switching going on clicking back and forth. And of course the F80. I am a happy but skeptical Camper!

Does anyone have an idea of the percentage of hardware issues with the EG4 6500ex? I was wondering if it is low and it is just that everyone who has an issue is on the forum so it seems prevalent.

EG4 evidently had a problem last fall with some hardware that was being installed in the factory without their knowledge. It seems that led to most the issues that people voiced on the forum. They came out with some firmware to remedy the problems. Since then I’ve seen less and less people with problems like you mentioned.

This reset helped with my problem of only charging batteries at 20 amps... I managed to get home just before last light and cycled all 12 of my batteries 1 at a time and hit the resets. As soon as I was done I cycled the master inverter and All inverters changed to the proper charging amps of 120.

What do you mean by cycled the batteries and hit the reset? Can't you just push reset button? And cycled master inverter means you powered it off and then back on? Thanks. Asking for clarification so I can get my process correct. How many inverters do you have are they set up split phase?
