EG4 6000XP and SolarAssistant

Did you try to click Connect on the previous Setting page Under the Inverter / Battery section?
Yes. And let it go overnight, but with no success.

My best guess, though I don't understand why, is that there is something different in the network interaction in wired vs unwired adapter. I noticed wireless network entry had a funny name; wired had no name. Example, wireless on the router would read "odd-name, 192.168.0.11" but wired had '--' for the name.

Remove the inverter and dongle s/n information and try to enter them again..

the dongle IP address should be displayed to the right of inverter and dongle s/n if a connection has been established..

I think solar assistant initially looks at the 10.x.x.x network until it is configured to use your local network, whatever that may be. I have a feeling the dongle may also be doing some trickery pokery with a different IP range until it is set up too.

Hmm, That's a thought. I can make the network use that same 10.x range.

Switched to the 10.0.0.0 network, with no luck. The "--" in the device list is the wired dongle, but SA cannot see it.

I had temporarily attached the wireless dongle but realized it always broadcast an unsecured ssid you could join. That is so insecure; I'm really surprised the security-conscious people here accept that! :(

@EG4_Jarrett How do you turn OFF the unsecure ssid that the wireless dongle broadcasts? Ie, disable "local connect"?

I suspect the ethernet dongle connection is for those who do not had Wifi.

I have a Sungoldpower 10kw inverter that came with a Wifi dongle. The dongle has no built in web server or API that would allow me to access it and any data it is pulling from the inverter. The dongle, either via Wifi or a hardwired ethernet connection collects data from the inverter and sends it to some far distant webserver where you can supposedly view data that is in your home. My dongle sent the data to https://www.dessmonitor.com/. Instead I have SA connected to the Wifi dongle port on the inverter. Don't want my data going somewhere and in fact the dongle creates a security risk as it could give someone on the other end access to my network or at least my inverter.

This is precisely why I am using the wired dongle and not the wireless one. The wireless one, as it is configured, is very insecure. But for reasons that remain a mystery, SA is unable to connect to the inverter with it. I'll start pushing on SA to get this in the next release.

I bet the dongle, hardwired or wifi does not give local access the the inverter or its data. Hardwired is just another path to the firewall/gateway and out to the internet

The wifi dongle did allow access.. I had SA connected via the wireless dongle. But when I noticed the unsecured network ssid wouldn't go away, I disconnected it. I was shocked.. you just connect to it and via the eg4 app (without sign in), you can local connect and change any of the inverter settings!

The WLAN (hardwired) dongle does not support LocalConnect, which means SA does not work with it. I think SA is adding a item to their backlog to seek alternate ways of connecting, given that the Wifi approach is kind of a "debug" mode. For now, no SA for me until that is done.

I use the wireless connection and it works just fine.

I have two inverters. Both show up in SA.

Did you get your new batteries working with SA (with the original LP4s in the mix too)?
No,
I wasn't able to use SA with the LLv4 (S) and Lifepower4 batteries with the normal firmware.

Rumor, you can downgrade the LLs to use LLv1 firmware and you can use LLv1 Firmware to bridge the communication between the inverter and LL-S

Bummer!
