EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

I exercised the battery a little bit with some always on appliances, it discharged down to 13.25 every day.

EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

I dropped my float and absorption down to 13.5 for a week, and the problem is solved!! All 3 batteries are balanced, and the cells as well. Thanks for the help! I do need to raise the values back up but I will do that incrementally and keep an eye on the cells.

EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

What should I set my float to if I do 13.5 or 13.6 absorption?

EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

I would rather be conservative and not trigger COV mode, because I am not at the boat to reset it. So would you suggest 13.6 absorption and float =?.

EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

Thanks for the insight everybody, I’ll reduce the absorption voltage to 3.9 and see if that helps get things balanced.

EG4 battery keeps going into COV Protection mode

I have a 12v EG4 400ah rack battery that keeps going into COV Protection mode. I have 2 other EG4’s with no problem. They are wired in parallel. It seems to happen when I charge them to 100%. It triggers around 13.7 volts I’m not even sure what this mode means. And it seems suspicious that...

    Should I override Victron's LiFePo4 charge preset? (EG4)

Victron's default LiFePo4 charge preset is different from what EG4 recommends. Which one should I use? EG4 recommends: Absorption: 14.1 Float: 14.1 Victron preset: Absorption: 14.20 Float 13.50

Victron and EG4 12v Houseboat System

Here's my Houseboat Solar Configuration. It's powered by 1000w of solar (and a supplementary 5500 Onan generator to supplement, if needed). No shore power, the houseboat is on a mooring ball full time. The batteries are 3x 12v EG4 400ah wired in Parallel. Not show here is the Victron GX Touch...

EG4 to Victron Cerbo over RS485?

I have not tried the USB path yet, but it's on my list.

EG4 says to storage batteries at 100%

In the EG4 48v manual, it states to store the batteries at 100%. I’m generally conflicted on what the right voltage is for LiFePo4 cells. 1. My Victron Smart charger goes into “Storage Mode” which puts the cells at around 3.4v each. The SOC on the battery still shows 100%. 2. Others say to...

EG4 to Victron Cerbo over RS485?

Worth a shot! Worst case (or maybe better case), I have a lynx shunt in my power path.

EG4 to Victron Cerbo over RS485?

I have a V2 EG4 12v 400ah battery. The manual and front panel show RS485 ports on the front. Can I connect that to the Cerbo GX to get Battery monitor information into my VRM? Battery: https://eg4electronics.com/categories/batteries/eg4-lifepower4-12v-400ah-lithium-iron-phosphate-battery All...

Maximum amp hours for a charger?

The Victron IP22 30amp Smart charger says it supports batteries 100-300ah. My battery is 400ah. Can somebody explain why a charger has maximum ah? Would it work with my 400, and just take longer to charge?

Victron Multiplus II: How to Fuse Parallel DC cable to Battery

If one fuse pops (because of variance), that means I am drawing very close to 400 amps. So if one fuse is out of the circut, everything will go to the second circuit, and will pop that one right away because it's way above the 200 amps. I figure this way both lines are protected. Versus the...

Victron Multiplus II: How to Fuse Parallel DC cable to Battery

I am using a Lynx Distribution Module to connect my MultiPlus II 12/3000 Inverter/Charger to the Battery Bank. It's a 12v Inverter, so it calls for a 400amp fuse, and dual 2/0 cables to keep flexibility manageable. I'm not sure the proper way to fuse the dual connections. In my diagram, I...

    Houseboat Solar Plan Feedback

So I’m not 100% on the panel wiring. I need to retrace everything from the roof. But if my understanding is correct… There's a single pair of wires coming down from the roof and connected to the charge controller. The Outback FM60 charge controller was reporting 120 volts. I have 3 panels that...

    Houseboat Solar Plan Feedback

Hello! I'm looking for critique of my Solar Plan, for my Houseboat. See the attached diagram. This is my first solar system, so I was hoping to get some feedback on my plan. I left the communications out of the diagram to de-clutter it, but I want everything to connect to the Cerbo GX. The...

Connecting 5 12v batteries in parallel

I’m looking at installing 4-5 BigBattery 12v 170ah batteries in parallel on a houseboat. The data sheet states you can connect up to 8, but to ensure they stay within 1 volt of each other. I hear a lot of conflicting things about connecting more than 2-3 batteries in parallel. Any advice? Is...

Can my system support Lithium Batteries?

Thank you everybody for the information so far! I can tell I am going to be a regular here.. Does my following battery logic make sense? The current 6 Trojan L16HAC batteries are 435ah. Each 6v + 6v pair produce 435ah x 3. The 3 parallel 12v banks have a total of 1305ah. I am looking at 4x...

Can my system support Lithium Batteries?

BTW, no alternator hookup to the main system, there is a dedicated 12v starter battery for the engine.

Can my system support Lithium Batteries?

Let me check the wiring on the batteries next weekend. They are definitely 6v batteries. I guess I just assumed they were all series since 6v wouldn’t make sense. Is it common to do 3 banks of 6v + 6v series, in parallel?

Can my system support Lithium Batteries?

I recently bought a houseboat with Solar, and this is my first solar system. I need to replace the current batteries. They are 6 Trojan L16HAC (6v) batteries wired in 36v series. I am thinking about going to 4 Lithium 36v 67ah batteries wired in parallel, so I can cut weight, and reduce trips...
