What happen to my Victron smartshunt?

Raw data looks screwy. How do you have 14.6v and discharging? Maybe algorithm for SOC is just now able to work due to odd raw data. Maybe it is malfunctioning. Can you check raw data with clamp on multimeter?

Units moderator. There should be a units moderator assigned.

I'm not volunteering. I have to say that I fairly often view threads and then just close them and move on when the units used are all incorrect. The point isn't to be a stickler and pain the the ass and not help people that don't understand. If someone is asking for help and they have their...

Lux off grid - 36" range options

This is the tropics. Not realistically going to consider a wood burning stove in my contemporary tropical beach house LOL. If I were in Canada or Alaska, then yeah absolutely but I hope to never had to live in such a climate (no offense to those who like it....just my preference. ) Oven use...

Lux off grid - 36" range options

All induction is an option as well, even staying with Thermador brand 36" range. I can see the advantages but for some reason lizard brain/caveman wants to cook with fire. Really modern induction has many advantages. And now that I think about it there is another huge advantage: In our...

Lux off grid - 36" range options

That is exactly what I was seeing as an option with the particular range I asked about. This option makes it interesting giving my situation.

Lux off grid - 36" range options

I'm building a luxury off grid house in Costa Rica. We are getting close to time to pick appliances. This is not a frugal living situation but we do need to be smart about power. The original plan calls for a 36" range which we planned to get in "dual fuel" with gas burners and electric oven...

    Li battery storage horizontally ok?

Battle Born also says any orientation at least for their common batteries.

    Li battery storage horizontally ok?

Seems that best thing is to go by manufacturer's guidelines on this especially since many offer long warranties. Would make sense to install per their requirements. I know Dakota says they can be "placed in any orientation."

What Would You Recommend as an Alternative to this System to Pressurize House's Plumbing?

Variable speed pump with controller would do it. Still may use a small expansion tank. Or give Peru may have some hills? pump water to a tank high enough to give you correct household pressure by gravity. Your tank would need to be about 100ft above highest fixture in house.

Broke terminal bolt on new Victron MPII inverter

To OP. You are not the first person to have this happen. I wouldn’t immediately blame the torque wrench. Work with your dealer and Victron wil likely make this right.

Shore Power Charging Issue trips gfci

Don’t EG4s have some issue with a neutral-ground bonding screw inside? If there is a permanent N-G bond in inverter it will definitely trip GFCI. The proper way is to use a ground relay that only makes the connection when inverting.

Can someone please sell me on Dakota lithium. What am I missing?

I would hesitate to ever use 12v batteries in series in a 48v application but boats often stick with 12v as many house systems are 12v. The DL+ 280ah or DL+ 560ah would be the most interesting to see reviewed having the best specs and energy density. The 280ah is $8.56/ah. What is considered...

Can someone please sell me on Dakota lithium. What am I missing?

If you are going to review one do the new DL+ series which has a much higher spec BMS and supposedly good for engine starting applications. They seem to be moving their product line this way. I am a dealer and I also have contacts to owner/founder. I can easily sell you one at a discount for...

    Two Victron Orion DC-DC converters?

This. You will have things like a VHF that spike power when transmitting and other motor loads like water pumps, blower, etc. that have inrush requirements. Even a small 12v AGM battery will act as a reliable shock absorber.

shore power battery charger (ac to dc 100amp)

The fact that it doesn't trip a GFCI is good.

shore power battery charger (ac to dc 100amp)

I would do a little research because I suspect this Chinesium power supply does not isolate AC Neutral and DC negative due to the use of a cheap single winding transformer. This is a BIG no no on boats as it can be a cause of major stray current which can both cause corrosion, will trip shore...

shore power battery charger (ac to dc 100amp)

I would get a marine grade charger that is fully programmable which is very different than "has a lithium setting." You need to be able to program the exact parameters that are required by the battery manufacturer. There is no single setting that is correct for all lithium batteries. We are...

Victron SMARTSOLAR MPPT RS 450/200-TR 48V voltage per string

A MPTT RS 450/200 would most likely work for you just the same as 2x MPPT RS 450/100. You did not give us enough information to know for sure but as long as each string is under 450v temp compensates and no more than 8x float voltage you are fine. If your strings are in the 200v range you are...

Struggling with spec'ing panels to max out 2x Victron MPPT RS 450/200

I was planning on using what I can get in large format panels. My supplier (In Costa Rica) can get me right now: Jinko JKM535M-72HL4-TV 535w panels 49.1 VOC 40.63 MPP V 13.85a Short Circuit I 13.17a MPP I So if I want to use these on the MPPT RS 450/200 I could put 6 in series to each...

What does the symbol mean in a lighting plan?

Country is Costa Rica. I found out that the three hashes mean three conductors (typical AC triplex). "TPIS/04" means what panel it comes from and what position number. The strange part is that this symbol is used on many standard AC lighting circuits but not on others. I never got a good...

Can I connect an uninterruptible power supply to a solar AGM battery bank?

Is your radio setup DC in the first place? Why not just run off the battery all the time and put a simple battery charger on the battery that will float it at required voltage while also effectively acting as a DC power supply for your system.

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

I think I would plan to do something like this in front of my pool (ocean side, downhill) positioned just below the overflow trough thing.

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

I haven't found out anything yet. But I will make whatever investment is necessary for a set and forget solution that will last hopefully decades. Those roll out type look almost disposable after a couple seasons. I'm just going on looks alone. I dont' know shit....yet.

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

I think I am convinced that I should just go with high quality solar collectors. I want the type that are enclosed in glass for durability and aesthetics. Some of those roll out black tube-matt things look chinsy as hell. I can just imagine a Costa Rican critter munching through the thin...

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

Yes of course but at the same time the resistive load is nice and easy on the inverters

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

Our rainy season is what they refer to as "winter" around here where temps are cooler due to less sun. This would be when heating would be most appreciated but whether resistive or direct solar it will be the worst solar conditions during this time. But we live fine without it. This is just...

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

Sorry I shoudl know to include units. I was talking F. 2-3 deg is not much but the range for comfortable pool temps is quite narrow. A couple of degrees F makes a difference I think. I've thought about a cover but it is a pain in the ass and the pool is an architectural/design feature so...

Electric heating of pool - Just a touch but still is it practical?

So I'm building a house in Costa Rica and plan to make it "off grid" with a large PV array, large battery, and larger inverters. This is not a frugal living situation but a independence choice. I will have the local GRID as a backup for if my PV does not keep up in an extended poor solar...

Mastervolt Chargemaster 12/70 that ignores programming?

We have had tons of issues with the ChargeMaster series. So much so that despite the fact that we have been a Mastervolt dealer for nearly 20 years I simply don't sell them anymore. Mastervolt has been goggled up by a multi-level corporate conglomerate and they have lost their way. Does your...
