SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

wait a moment!! You mean you will start periodic inspections of the inside of SGP equipment? I see a big advantage with the wall mounted batteries in this moment. I think you could inspect them while in operation. Cannot imagine that with racks in a shelf.

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

yes, periodic inspections incl tightening wires, still need to get that torque wrench/ driver By the way it was "months earlier".. like in 30 months earlier. That user did regular inspections -- the last one had been 2 weeks prior to the fire. The bulging battery was replaced in 2021. I like...

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

yeah, that language barrier is an issue. What's happening is.. that they did NOT go boom as expected. The Victron fuse test starts at minute 9:50 and around minute 10:56 had been for 45 minutes at 176.5A and 90C warm (hot), yet not blown. At minute 11:30 he replaces the wire with a thinner...

the 2 videos are from a guy in Germany who tested Victron Mega fuses and iMAXXX Mega fuses. Those videos are not related to the guy who had the fire.

You bought the mega fuses? The other thread had a video where someone tested them. One user summarized it up: "After watching that video not sure anyone should be using mega fuses " Post in thread 'House burned down' https://diysolarforum.com/threads/house-burned-down.83098/post-1090686

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

I have this one in my 24V system: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0BHSNYHHH?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title a no-name product, I fear. After reading on the risks, I may want to buy a known brand for the 48V system.

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

That was exactly my question for you LOL It's said probably on every of the 20+ pages in the house-burnt-down thread: fuses protect wires, not equipment. But yes, my intuitive answer is one class T per 48V battery. In the 24V system I have only 1 fuse, but those 3 batteries are not on a bus...

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

My 24V system has the class t fuse in a plexiglass container. It's supposed to contain a mess. I haven't had a chance to verify.

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

I think the worst case is one battery going bad and the others dumping into it. The thread "house burned down" is very detailed. The breakers may not be able to break the high current. Or they may be too slow. Wires melt in 0.1s at high enough current. I have a single class T on the + side of...

SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

Good description why you like SA. The whole install looks good. SGP will like it. I have the entire main house (4000sqft, 2 kitchens, hot tub, electric water heater) on solar and used utility power for a few hours only (10 maybe) in the first half of March. If I charge the PHEV on the SGP...

Prius Prime is also available with a solar roof . It's an option that costs $610. It gets about 5 m/kWh or better if you drive conservatively. https://www.motortrend.com/features/the-2023-toyota-prius-primes-battery-could-take-three-weeks-to-recharge/ From the article: "Those figures are...

to cheat or not to cheat... that is the question (and some discussion on rebranding equipment)

They do keep track of consumption or export at least on hourly level. On their website, I can go back in time and see consumption/ export for any date / time in 1hr intervals .. not sure how many years back. Afaik, I have an old NEM contract. System is from 2004. They have all the data, but...

Install and Operation of the SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

The system has its shortcomings, but there were only 2 days where their server was down. The first time they didn't announce it. I just couldn't log in. The second time they had an error message, IIRC, on the login screen. Unfortunately each time the outage was over 6h. Given that happened over...

It tells me the SOC and that most likely the house has not burnt down yet at time of viewing. I can also deduct from the load whether someone is showering or doing laundry or both. I like that.

to cheat or not to cheat... that is the question (and some discussion on rebranding equipment)

Off topic: Just to give you an idea how messed up our PoCo PG&E is. One of my renters called me 2018 that her fridge doesn't work. It was dark. I hoped to just give her a new bulb and feared to be on the hook for a fridge. Upon my visit, it turned out that her house had no power. I called PoCo...

to cheat or not to cheat... that is the question (and some discussion on rebranding equipment)

Yeah, exporting to the grid without permission seems crazy. I previously had read your comment thinking it's a response to my posting about an off grid installation which would bring down the grid bill. I still wonder if a 20%+ drop in consumption triggers the aforementioned PoCo to do an...

to cheat or not to cheat... that is the question (and some discussion on rebranding equipment)

I do have a permitted grid tie 5kW system, 20 years old, and I added recently an off grid system. My bill month compared to previous year's same month definitively drops a lot more than 50%. As in from 1900kWh to 600kWh in March year over year. But there have been similar drops in past years...

    Hot Weather Voltage Degradation

I was trying to find out about STC rating vs NMOT rating, to determine my panel setup. To see Isc and Voc. And found this post. For my panels, Voc is 40.6 (NMOT) vs 43.1 (STC). I suppose to determine how many panels can go on a string, I need to use the higher number, even if in the real world...

Is this real or a hoax? California $0.00 export rate

Can you explain this? My grid delivers 245 to 248V. What would happen if it were 270V? My appliances fry???

Install and Operation of the SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

I didn't think that (although all cloud solutions are a potential target for hackers). But with an internet outage, I believe *some* ring installations will fail to make the chime work. I had bought a ring system for a spec house that I built (for sale) and was told that the door bell won't work...

Install and Operation of the SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

Yeah, the one that came with the unit. It sends my data every 5 minutes to Cindy's servers. Tbh, they are not SGP servers. It's a separate company. I normally am against unnecessary cloud solutions. I laugh about the people who have a ring door bell that goes through the cloud for everyone...

Install and Operation of the SUNGOLD 10KW 48V SPLIT PHASE SOLAR INVERTER

I stopped paying attention since the APL mode issue was resolved.. by this forum. I check 1x or 2x a week how warm it is getting in the shed, and am thinking of replacing the duct fan with a more powerful one. It's below 97F so far. What I started obsessing about is the PG&E (power company)...
