Hi DIY Solar Forums:

I'm looking for an Austin area electrician to assist with permit pulling for my DIY project. Has anyone worked with someone for this that they can recommend?

Thanks!

Who would ever use their license to let someone else do work under their name?

Can't you pull a permit as owner-builder?
Hire someone with a license, if you want, to do a particular job that you can't?

It's Austin. They have a city run utility, possibly with different rules than the rest of TX for export to grid solar. Maybe they have special rules requiring an electrician to do it / sign off on it in someway.

I see all kinds of talks about incentives and qualifying contractors.. they don't seem to be pushing owner-builder installations.

I'm unsure of what happens if you go off grid in Austin city limits and use an off grid solar system.

Is this for the City of Austin or are you working in the county?

There are people in Austin that allow people to use their license. Last time I heard, it was around $500 to have someone do that.
