My concern is the wood supports under the panels, I can't really reach the top of those 4x4's. Well technically I can, but I only have about 2 inches between the top of the posts and the panels, so it would be very tedious, time consuming work.

I think they will be fine.

They are mostly covered by the panels above them, but there are gaps in between the panels that expose the wood to direct sun and the rain. The gaps are about half to one inch wide.

That would be a tedious process. Possibly a skinny foam brush on pole.
