I just bought an EG4 6000xp
DC INPUT VOLTAGE RANGE 100-480 VDC
MPP OPERATING VOLTAGE RANGE 120-385 VDC

and

10x 370w Aptos panels
VOC:41.4V
ISC:11.26A

I originally thought I could 10s the panels because of the allowable 480VDC input. Now I am second guessing it because of the MPP operating voltage range. Can someone help me understand these 2 values? Can I 10s these panels?

Vmp is where you get MPPT operation. Vmp is about 80% of Voc. 480Voc * .8 = 384V.

Your Voc will be at 414V. Provided it NEVER gets below -32°C, you should be good at 10S.

Your 10S Vmp will be about 331V.

I am trying to understand what this limit is referring to because I will be over that.

With 10s, your operating voltage is about 414v. Under the input voltage limit of 480v.

The inverter will still work, but the MPPT will not optimize panel output above 385v. If you want the MPPT to optimize, the you are limited to 9 panels at 374v, which leaves you more max voc margin.

414 was Voc.
