EG4 DIY mini split

I will be installing the 12k btu DIY hybrid but am seeing conflicting installation instructions. The EG4 video ( not the DIY version) shows pumping down the line set before opening the valves. I do not have an issue with that since I have the pump, but my question is other videos show just hooking it up and going with it. Is the charge stored in the condenser or the line set?

Thanks I just want to make sure to get the most life out of the system

That's the old units, the video I posted should be for the new ones.

Thanks.. The new ones have the mounting template for the indoor unit so that was a nice surprise when I opened the box
