It's not a bad thing. It allows for real data on lifetime of the battery in all kinds of conditions, can help the recycling/reuse of them, and can help prevent the use of conflict minerals and others. Will it be perfect, of course not - but it's not just a purely bureaucratic exercise.

Seems it may not apply to storage, depending on what they mean by industrial?

So since each cell is only 960wh, you don't need to apply for 16 passports when you DIY? That would suck at the post office.

Even the forthcoming lf560k should slip under the 2kWh limit at nominal capacity.
