stock BMS wire undersized?

The copper in wire can carry absurd amounts of current. It's the temperature rating of the insulation that limits current. Your insulation can't catch fire.
Yes, but just don't staple those wires to some cheap plywood :eek:
 
Your guys' 100A BMS looks like two 8awg wires, which would be fine and what I want to replace it with. The ones on mine is only 10awg, not 8awg.
Yes, my Overkill branded JBD uses 2 parallel 8awg wires. Following the thread I linked to in post #2 I monitored the temperature of the wires - they rarely get above 35C, which surprised me.

It also depends on the distance you need to cover, since R = ρ x L / A with:

R the resistance of the cable
Rho (ρ) the resistivity of the material (e.g. copper)
L the length of the cable
A the cross section of the conductor

So if you have longer distances to cover, you need to increase the cross section of the conductor. For shorter distances, you can do with less.
