  • Post in thread: Luyuan battery case

When my Luyuan battery boxes came, I assumed it would be simple to put them together!... But with no instructions, I had to trial and error which way round for mounting everything so it would work. I ended up playing hokey cokey with the cells a few times, as I was also trying to see how best to...
  • Post in thread: GUIDE to properly Top-Balance and Charge a LFP Battery: Part 1

This is going to be an interesting thread..? @shvm You may have some valid points, but I'm not sure of your experience or background with so few posts, and there are some very experienced others here, which your on the path to rubbing up the wrong way very quickly, which won't help the...
  • Post in thread: Luyuan battery case

Thanks, yeah I'm also not keen on the idea of cells on their sides, my battery chest:
  • Post in thread: 3x 100A BMS (problem with Multiplus discharge) or 1x 300A BMS?

Hey @DutchCookieMonster I'm not sure on 3phase or ESS setup, but if you have 3 x BMS are you using: https://github.com/pulquero/BatteryAggregator or similar, to aggregate each BMS/Battery? Allowing the Multi's to charge/discharge with full current for all 3 batteries combined, If not then that...
  • Post in thread: Rick's recommended compression containment for EVE cells (LF280K, LF304)

Without wanting to side-track this spring tension thread, most people have only ever discussed recommended compression from the EVE data sheets, but EVE are a small manufacturer. Looking at some others, I can only see the mention of 300Kgf for the Envision 305Ah cells, but only in relation to...
  • Post in thread: GUIDE to properly Top-Balance and Charge a LFP Battery: Part 1

For my personal Victron GX system using their MPPT's a SmartShunt and DVCC it's fairly easy to set the tail current at the voltage point and I set a few min charge detection time to minimise cloud affects, the MPPT's will automatically power loads when the battery is full. I guess if you're...
  • Post in thread: Seller of Envision 305Ah cells - UK

Just do a road trip to NKON in Eindhoven, declare them to UK customs for personal use and pay online before leaving, get some nice Belgian beers on the way back!
  • Post in thread: Charge Termination Current at Desired Voltage

Nice graphic! Is the ratio here in relation to manufacturers standard charge rate at 0.5C, and the taper termination being at 0.05C? Would that mean a charge rate of 0.2C should have 0.02C taper termination? In most cases I guess the 0.05C taper termination rate (17A for me) is the safest bet...
  • Post in thread: Pseudo self-discharge exercise

I have also been using dbus-serial driver with three JK BMS's, but I kept my SmartShunt to see if JK's were accurate.. well they're not at all, today I'll try and calibrate V and I in the app, but they all think they're discharging more than the SmartShunt sees. Definitely weird to show reducing...
  • Post in thread: Anybody tried new JK BMS with inverter communication support?

Dbus-Serial driver IS closed loop! - It does what the 'Peter Boards' do, just use your own RS485/TTL adaptor.. (Only difference being the dbus driver only works for Victron Venus OS) The driver is very comprehensive, it reads the JK parameters, can adjust charging voltages for both SCC and...
  • Post in thread: Charge Termination Current at Desired Voltage

I often see quoted the standard LFP 0.033C or 0.05C Cell datasheet rate as termination current for fully charged cells. For EVE 280K: 280A x 0.05 = 14A (@3.65v) For Gotion 340: 340 x 0.05 = 17A (@3.65v) Etc.. (I have the Gotion) This is always specified by Cell manufacturers when charging to...
  • Post in thread: Gobel Power Grade B 280AH 16s Rack... more $ than EG4 Power Pro

When I was looking recently for quotes on Alibaba, the auto generated shipping to UK was around $600-700 but when I asked for quotes it was $400-450. With the grade B business, this is an explanation from Gobelpower: High Speed Electric Vehicle (HSEV) = A grade new from manufacturer Low Speed...

  • Post in thread: Guidance on Alibaba Trade Assurance, cells not shipped on time.

I asked Amy and Gobelpower for the name of the ships, you can then track them real time yourself from their AIS transponders: https://www.marinetraffic.com/
  • Post in thread: 30kWh Envision Import & DIY

Just following up if you did drive over to NKON in the end, it would be interesting to find out if that worked out OK?
  • Post in thread: Anyone purchase from Gobel Power, experience?

I bought from GobelPower through Alibaba using CC, my quote including all fees was around $3,500 I made sure to double check that it was the final cost to me, but when I went through to the final payment page Alibaba had added another new $100 transaction fee on top, whether I paid in $ £ or ¥...
  • Post in thread: I must be doing something wrong.

On the other hand: If one is unaware of an unpleasant fact or situation one cannot be troubled by it. "Ignorance is bliss" :p Some people get by and don't need to know how or why something works, it just does, and that's fine. I've been off-grid for 18 years, and now I do like to have the...

    318Ah EVE LF304!
  • Post in thread: Luyuan battery case

Uh oh, that means I could easily swap out my 'older style' JK's for the inverter with new faceplate's...💡🤔💸
  • Post in thread: JK bms is blowing up rs 485 converter

I'm pretty sure JK make two versions one for 12-24v and one for 48v batteries, do you have the right one from your supplier?
  • Post in thread: Help programming JK BMS for 24v EVE cells

I cut all mine to whatever length was needed too, which makes it a lot neater, but all my lead resistance figures were pretty low and similar, I imagine it shouldn't make any difference, and if the BMS can sense a major variation then you can check or increase the AWG to fix it anyway.
  • Post in thread: Cheap LF280k battery box from Luyuan

I also ordered 3 x 8s 24v boxes + JK BMS from Luyuan, also late to ship. Amy said it would take 2 weeks to customise them. The contract was for 25 days to ship but it took over 46 days after ordering to actually ship! (but they did have a flood in Shenzhen). The ship has now arrived in port last...
  • Post in thread: Hello can anyone more experienced see these battery settings. Thank you.

    Somethings not right, 8 cells - 12v? You can't run a 24v inverter off a 12v battery
  • Post in thread: US to Ban Pentagon From Buying Batteries From China’s CATL, BYD

Maybe that's why Chinese companies like Gotion are looking to build plants in the US: https://cnevpost.com/2023/12/29/gotion-1st-us-made-battery-pack-off-line/ CATL really do have a big share of the world market:
  • Post in thread: LIFEPO4 Battery Stored in Sealed Box or Vents needed?

Our battery boxes are not air tight steel pressure vessels though. I don't know if it's overlooked in the smaller sealed plastic cases, or unnecessary until the one in a million catastrophic cell failure, maybe the pressure released isn't enough to crack a plastic case let alone a steel one...
  • Post in thread: Cheap LF280k battery box from Luyuan

Not sure the confusion here over 8s or 16s: They will make any size box you want, and have multiple box listings, but that link/Alibaba listing says it's for 8s and has pictures of an 8s, and the OP's is an 8s, it's just in two rows of four which looks like 4s2p, so could be used as a 12v box...
  • Post in thread: Luyuan battery case

I didn't need the double pole terminals, but they do fit 70mm2 - 2/0 AWG cable lugs. I use a busbar, and each battery with its own cables of identical length to its own fused disconnect breaker to minimise any chance of a single battery pulling or pushing more than its neighbours. Same length...
  • Post in thread: 48VDC Heater mats

I was going to use the heat control on my 24V JK BMS batteries with the small 12V pads, but just decided it's cheaper and simpler to heat the whole battery cabinet with an Amazon seedling heated mat with temperature probe and thermostat, yeah it's 27W AC but should do the job. Now I've got it...
  • Post in thread: Pseudo self-discharge exercise

If it is the driver, maybe put the logs on Github and see if anyone can spot anything strange: https://github.com/louisvdw/dbus-serialbattery/issues?q=is%3Aissue Looking at the config file, could the code behind this be messed up somehow?: ; --------- BMS specific settings --------- ; --...
  • Post in thread: What gauge wire and fuse for 48v battery and 48/3000 inverter

The contacts of the switch will spark when turned on if you haven't used a pre charge resistor to charge the inverter capacitors first. Multi's/Quatro's will power up from the battery being connected, but they can stay on powered by AC in without it.
