Holy Moly, these things are going quick! David Poz mentioned that he didn't see many there when he purchased his 12. We in this string account for an additional six so far, and 30 others are claimed to have been purchased in David's thread.
While reading through your post, I envisioned the same solution that George then provided you in detail. As I too am assembling a backup system due to the power outages that have become our new normal here in Northern California. And, like you, it will be prioritizing the energy augmentation...
These are currently on sale for Cyber Monday at only $71 each, with free shipping...

Arghhhh.....
UPS just delivered my package from OnLine Metals. Two 36" tinned copper bars, both .25" thick x 2" wide. Except that the $100 worth of busbars are missing from the package. The box is crushed and black like it had been ran over, the end torn open, and the box is empty...
I've been forced into keeping a scorecard.... so far I've identified Battery Hookup, Infinite Skies, BigBattery, Inc, and Techdirectclub.com as vendors of these batteries. And, I'm sure to be missing a few.
Are all of these merchants simply middlemen, or is one perhaps the actual depot that...
Justin, how soon will you have the flag battery terminals available for sale? That looks perfect for paralleling my four BYD batteries with 4/0 AWG.
Secondly, will you be carrying the Blue Sea ML series link busbars?
Lastly, is your manual for the 240A ProLatch down-loadable? Thanks so much...
Victron's solution to allow the continued use of their BP with inverters was dead-simple. We simply do not route the B+ through the Battery Protect, to the DC 'IN', on the inverter. In this way, the heavy current surge to initially charge the capacitors does not flow through the BP, while...
Holy Moly !!!
I am SO GLAD that this has come to light now! I just spent $3200 on a LifePO4 battery bank that I intend to outlive me, and am using the 24v Blueprint as a guide for assembly. As a military retiree, I can assure you that I certainly don't have the loose change lying around...
So, a couple of questions....
If one is using batteries with built-in sealed BMS, how might an external BMS be wired to trip the relay? Perhaps simply connect the cell leads of the BMS to the battery + post, in order to gauge the voltage of the battery? Or might an alternate triggering...
Will, I can only assume that the PPM inverter is from your 48v S/P Systems for Beginners video...
In that the batteries and inverter are such an expensive part of each build, if you were purchasing the inverter for this 48V build yourself, and needed it to be one that had a rock-solid...
You won't have steep winter temp differences between inside and outside there in San Diego. If they still allow catalytic wood stoves there, it will be all that is needed. I live an hour north of Sac, (so cooler in the winter and hotter in the summer than S/D ) and I haven't lit my house...
As long as your design would ultimately having it capable of connecting to the grid, simply get your power company to sign off on it, and it would qualify.
Similar to the Sub-$100 per kW LifePO4 batteries, here is another good solar buy that is going quick...
Twelve Giandel 3000/6000w 24v Pure Sine inverters are availableon Ebay, priced less than their 2000w inverters: $298 ea...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
It stood to reason that one of those figures were off a might... it was hard to imagine that one had ten times the parasitic draw of the other.
Good-on-ya' !!
Steve, I followed the link to the Ebay auction in your post above, and was scratching my head as to why you were opting for the nickel plated steel bars??? And then I read further down where you realized the error.
I have received several orders of tinned solid copper bars from Online Metals...
I need some help in deciding which SCC(s) would be best to utilize on a build.
I have two ground arrays... both utilizing 445W panels. ( Voc 49.9V, Vmp 41.2V, Isc 11.42A, Imp 10.82A )
The first array is comprised of 10 panels, and the problem that I have, is that I am limited to...
Welcome to the forum...
Quite a few of us have been purchasing these BYD Lifepo4 batteries for many months. You can follow the thread here: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/cheap-4kwh-lifepo4-batteries-from-battery-hookup.1496/
They have been available for purchase without the metal...
....And the $1600 unit has four 5Ah batteries on board.
How do these people sleep at night??? We had SO many residents here in Cali purchase these type of units due to all of the power outages. My mother included. She purchased two of them, ( $2400) thinking that she would then be all...
