  • Post in thread: Salvage/permanent disconnection from grid

For anyone else reading this in a similar situation (only relevant in my province). It appears it was either a scare tactic or miscommunication between the electric provider and the utility company. I canceled/permanent disconnected with my electric provider and was told the same as the...
  • Post in thread: Battery fuse blown twice

Hey, they were both blue sea fuses (little fuse). I would like them to be a bad batch, but I doubt it. The current through the wood is a feed through connector:- https://defender.com/en_us/blue-sea-systems-terminal-feed-through-connector
  • Post in thread: Water heater load/surge causes projector to turn off

Yep, I think you have methods of resolve listed. I find the line conditioner the simplest and most protective for the projector. But it will be the most work in terms of drywalling and decorating to get it in there (which I hate!). I was looking at the Eaton 5P 5P750 750VA/600W 120V Tower Line...
  • Post in thread: Compression orientation & SOC level when tightening

I bit the bullet and ordered some more at the correct values. No point in doing everything right and then cutting corners at the end! I am based in Canada so a bit more difficult to source. These should do the job of 220lbs per spring https://victoryspring.ca/shop/compression/9-1208-26/ With...
  • Post in thread: Water heater load/surge causes projector to turn off

After further troubleshooting it turns out the contactor on the water heater smart switch was faulty (making a whining noise when switched on). Traded out the Amazon/Chinese contactor for an Eaton 661099 and all is good.
  • Post in thread: Battery fuse blown twice

I have been up and running for 5 days, my maximum has been 6000W for approx 2hrs. No difficulty with heat, although I only checked cabling, bms wires and cell bus bars (never took the shroud off the fuses). The rotary precharge goes from off to pre charge and then on and then on again (Either...
  • Post in thread: LV6548 Flickering MPP sent X6 Caps. Hesistant

Hey, yes from the manual it noted:- WARNING: Do not connect the current sharing cable between the inverters which are in different phases. Otherwise, it may damage the inverters. Unless I misread? Edit: to confirm they are split phase
  • Post in thread: Water heater load/surge causes projector to turn off

The resistive load made no difference; however I did confirm that the Panamax MIW-POWER-PRO-PFP is the culprit. I got on a ladder and checked the display on the outlet protector. When remotely turning off the hot tub the outlet protector briefly lit up with “line fault” and then the projector...
  • Post in thread: Split phase two LV6548 not enough. X3 inverters Max AC out Amps?

Thanks for the clarification on max KW usage and timeframe for the units. After changing a few things here and there (usage reduction and conversion to natural gas appliances) my main contention is the hot tub. It is still pulling around 8-9KW for 40 minutes. I have set it to heat up during the...
  • Post in thread: Split phase two LV6548 not enough. X3 inverters Max AC out Amps?

That's good to know! I have X32 280ah cells on their way and will likely add in the future. I guess we will see how they function when I'm set up.
  • Post in thread: Combining 4 inverters AC out (split phase) to a single double pole 100amp breaker?

Hey, this a theoretical future question as I currently only have X2 inverters. However I may upsize my AC out wire gauge if feasible. Most posts as regard X4 inverter builds have two 60amp double pole breakers in their panel (one breaker per inverter on different phases). Would it be possible...
  • Post in thread: Combining 4 inverters AC out (split phase) to a single double pole 100amp breaker?

That makes sense. I'm thinking about scenarios where they each have their own 60amp breaker at the inverter side and then combine to the 2/0 wire; however I then think the cost saving is then lost... I may still use the 2/0 though as I have it to hand.
  • Post in thread: Compression orientation & SOC level when tightening

Thanks for the overview and calculations. I will try and adapt your process with 16s (split in half so larger surface area) and a 6 bolt/thread setup.
  • Post in thread: Off Grid setup details for review - long distance cable to main panel

Yep, based on comparison to other side it calculates based on one length (+ or -). So 170ft is correct for the calc.
  • Post in thread: Any benefit to multiple smart shunts

Good to know. I will look into it as an option.
  • Post in thread: SA Smart shunt vs dual JBD BMS

This is what i have been doing and may be my route going forward, means i can monitor remotely in terms of charge and SOC via the shunt; then bluetooth when at home. its seems the BMS connection gives nothing addtional right now for me.
  • Post in thread: Parallel LV6548 wire gauge for future proofing?

Thanks for the specifics on your design and process, appreciated. I double checked and I have 600A blue sea busbars. But as said may be worth upgrading if expanding my system.
  • Post in thread: Help connecting terminal to battery box lug

Not the neatest but should do the job. Was initially at a 45d angle bend, but didn’t line up with the drilled holes so had to adjust the angle slightly
  • Post in thread: Any benefit to multiple smart shunts

I did a huge u turn and canceled the order on the second shunt. Figured a combined SOC of both packs would suffice
  • Post in thread: Compression orientation & SOC level when tightening

Hey, yes correct my springs are a little light. I purchased enough for 4 packs and then realized my calcs were for a single row. They weren’t cheap so I decided to just live with some compression is better than none. I have porin like foam in between (2mm I think) My springs do have enough...
  • Post in thread: Parallel LV6548 wire gauge for future proofing?

Any other input on my planned gauge and amp fuse? Will it be ok with future additional batteries and inverters?
  • Post in thread: Battery fuse blown twice

The first blown fuse was about 5 days ago when I believe I overshoot my charge controller amps and the bms settings. However they could be both related and my settings were coincidental
  • Post in thread: LV6548 internal temp probe location?

Thanks, yes I found another helpful EG6500 thread with similar plans (and link to controller) I will consider upgrading the internal fans, however my consideration was whether or not I could piggy back an external fan communication somehow so that it runs in tandem with the internal ones. If...
  • Post in thread: T fuse Size & wire gauge for split phase X2 LV6548

Found info on a momentary switch hooked up to a resistor via the DC breaker as a pre charge method
  • Post in thread: Recommend x2 bms for parallel setup

Hey, I have x2 jbd 200amp BMS’s paired to their own 16s 280ah packs with a view to parallel charge/discharge. I found that only one would function (charge/discharge) unless I turn the other off, and then it would switch functioning over to that pack. After emailing a few sellers I was told...
  • Post in thread: gauge wire interconnect between PV panels

Thanks for confirming, seemed logical but couldn't see any mention on any other posts.
  • Post in thread: Early arrival capacity test/discharge/storage advice

    Sweet! Let the fun begin.
  • Post in thread: Battery fuse blown twice

Hey, yes 40amps each inverter (but no charging was happening when it blew). Wire lengths from the busbar to the battery packs are equal. I guess I will double check all connections and monitor temps. Don’t really want to blow through fuses at 70cad a pop! Would this primarily be the DC side...
  • Post in thread: Salvage/permanent disconnection from grid

    Around $50-60 (cad)
  • Post in thread: B- cable getting hot on charge

Hey, see attached. cable is high temp silicone 600v 200c. Yep agreed, unfortunately I havent shelled out for a heat prob/infrared as yet. I tried with a digital thermometer and was getting around 70-75c but I dont trust the results with a meat thermometer! I didnt think to check the BMS board...
