Update:
I've been getting about 4-7 miles of daily charging on my Tesla M3 off my solar panels. Not bad.
Mind you, I don't travel far from work, but ultimately, I would love to reach 15 miles of daily charge at some point. I am looking at purchasing a Growatt 24v SPF 3000TL-LVM.
Question...
Oops. Typical. I meant "slice".
I mean to strip the external yellow cover on the extension cord and then separate the three colors (inside the yellow cover).
What Will Prowse is doing in the video.
Again, many thanks.
Last question: do you think, instead of buying two more 12v 100ah acid batteries, that I should just begin from scratch with a 24v 200ah lithium battery and start building a bank from there?
There are only three options: AGM, Flooded, and User.
The battery says "AGM" on the front. Am I missing anything?
And now another little issue. I am charging my batteries with my two solar panels, but it doesn't show an output. YET, the WatchPower app shows the "Battery Capacity" at 59%.
Thank you for the response. My only concern was it being underpowered. I'm with you on the hardwired stuff, it's just I'm in no way an electrician and taking my first step here.
In about a week I'll be purchasing the stuff and will post it here, if it helps anyone.
Again, I completely appreciate your help here.
Last question, as not to burn the bridge with too many questions, what MPP Solar unit would do the 1875w?
And I love the idea of building up the battery banks. I'll begin with one or two and go from there.
:)
Sorry, but you're way off! You, and the many others on this forum, have helped me along the way in doing this. Before beginning this project, I couldn't tell you what a 120 outlet was in comparison to a 240. Yep, that's me.
Here is the final result! How does it look?!
Thanks for the reply!
I tried it initially in series but exceeded the amperage of 60v for the inverter (since each panel is 30amp).
Update: the issue seems to be me not understanding basic terms. Ugh! When I click the 'select' button (on the video) twice, it shows the "PV" input. PV in solar...
Thanks! And now the newbie question: I have three black & red 2 AWG wires.
I can see the red cable from my inverter would go to the bottom left 12v battery and the black cable would go to the bottom right battery. What about the other ones? Do I use red or black, and if so which one?
A follow-up and question.
The solar set-up has been working thus far flawlessly. I charge my Tesla once in a while for a few miles per day, my lawn mower battery, and other devices in my garage.
Now the question (two-fold):
I am using two solar panels:
Specs for SST-240-60P Brand : Trina...
"
Sorry for the newb question, but do you mean simply a red wire should run from the inverter into one of the batteries (as shown in the photo)? The same would be said for the black from the inverter to the battery bank.
Oh boy, so many (newbie) questions.
Why do all 10/3 extension cords say 15a?
You suggested I get a 10ga, which I am assuming is the same as a 10/3, that would handle 30a.
Am I missing anything?
Great! These are only $90 apiece, and the person has plenty so that I can purchase all the same type. It's a few years old, but I suspect (correct me if I am wrong) that this still will be efficient (for the price).
How many panels can I use? Two, correct?
Do you have any recommendations for a 24v Inverter all-in-one (like I have now) that can do more than 60v? and can do 120/240?
The 120/240 ability is nice so I can charge heavier loads.
Thank you! The "AC" was for wall power (grid). Phew!
This is my entry into solar, so I wanted a beginner friendly kit that was intuitive. Also, all of this cost me about $800 total. While 60v is the downfall, it was a small compromise for the price. I can always sell off these, in the future...
Question! Help anyone? :)
Just a follow-up: I have four 240watt 37v panels charging up my two 12v 100ah batteries.
Since I can't add more batteries to the bank (as it would go over 24v), can I add two 24v (or more) 100ah batteries together?
Ideally, I'd like to build a small battery bank for...
I purchased an Iron Forge Cable 3 Foot Lighted Outdoor Extension Cord - 10/3 SJTW and hooked it to the AC output on my Growatt 3000 24v inverter.
The colors to set up the Ground | L | N for the Iron Forge extension cord isn't clear to me.
Based on the photos, do I have this set-up correctly?
