Thanks, i assume the critical loads panel, would be similar to a consumer unit, only the 'input' would come from the inverter, which in turn would be supplied by either the grid or by battery when the grid is not available - i didnt realise that the 'load' from the inverter was on at all times...
it works for him, but i dont think he is finished designing yet .... i think he will end up with something with a bit more storage and potentially using more than one 12v element .....
i am also a fan of seeing how people have developed their own solutions as opposed to an off the shelf...

Have a look at this in the UK ...... do the specs match up, albeit at a higher price? They look very similar ...
in the UK, i have had my microwave downrated to around 600w max power. we use it in our motorhome (RV) via a 3kw renogy inverter and a 300ah fogstar lithium battery. we can also boil a 240v kettle at the same time, we can stay off grid without driving somewhere to charge the battery via a DC-DC...
@shaunuk
Shaun, i contacted Fogstar yesterday and made them aware of your concerns on this forum, they have a 'direct line' to Seplos, hopefully this has resulted in the above email from Colin. Just to be CLEAR to others, can you confirm Fogstar UK were NOT your supplier, they are just trying...
@SeaGal - so it wasn't just me that didn't understand. He did say someone in the UK was selling them for £2k, which then turned out to be @£3.5k now although he paid £3.3k previously and then he says prices have come down??
Anyway, the main thing is that so long as we are all happy with our...
I added a Sofar ME3000SP and battery to take advantage of my FIT PV system. Worked a treat! I've now changed the Sofar for a Sunsynk 5.5kw ECCO Hybrid as I wanted a higher charge rate AND wanted to add additional PV, BUT the additional PV will only feed the batteries NOT the grid so as not to...
i have the 3000w/12v Renogy inverter and ditched the supplied cables and installed with 35mm2 (UK Gauge) cable which can carry 240A. The cable run is less than 12" and i have fitted a 200A fuse. One of the main reasons for ditching the supplied cables ( 2 pairs) was that it made fitting to the...
David Mcluckie is the 'wiz' when it comes to diesel heaters. there are also a lot of people now using various methods to capture the heat lost through the exhaust, i use a diesel heater to boost the heat in my kitchen/conservatory, but as its installed outside, i cant really capture the heat...
Can't answer the questions re siting your installation but as for the charging issues, get the cheapest rate you can for the longest period (hours) that you can! BUT before you do all that, make sure it makes financial sense, unless you're purely wanting to be environmentally friendly.....
I'm sure you could sell the pylontech batteries. I have a similar dilemma (in the UK) I am thinking of replacing my single 14.3kw A grade EVE cells upright Seplos 280L with a 2x different batteries .... I want to do it but the sums don't really add up !
When I spoke to Candice she said just connect as you would normally do between the batteries for the +/- connections and daisy chain the BMS connections from one BMS to the other ...... Keeping one battery as the master
FWIW, my inverter and battery are in an outside brick built utility, i didnt want them in the house as i would have felt uncomfortable, though as time has progressed i feel a bit more comfortable about them being in the house, but to be honest it makes more sense to keep everything as it is and...
yes, they show up. will take a couple of photos tomorrow, spent quite a while today trying to get the inverter to accept solar input from the existing PV system to charge the battery. i think i may have sorted it but need to confirm (again tomorrow!) i did it via the aux setting. using the...
Are Sunsunk inverters available in your country? They are a Deye inverter but appear to have a few 'tweaks' including an ever improving app.
quite a few youtube videos on them, going back for 2 or 3 years, as they are an english speaking company, you may be able to present your needs to them...
Is there potential to sell your energy from the remote property to offset the cost at your home? Spending more money on solar at your remote property and getting a good price for it might be worth considering?
as far as i am aware, its the inverter that needs the compliance, as its that that connects to the grid and either feeds back to the grid or or doesnt, depending on how it is set up. irrespective of the size of your battery, it cannot deliver more than allowed by its certification,
as yours is...
not twice the price with 15% off BUT the important point is that it doesnt meet your needs, that is the most important thing!
good luck with the project!
i am very much in the same position, learning by trail and error (hopefully from other peoples !) - spending that much time on you tube and the internet just watching, listening and hopefully learning for those who paved the way for me as a complete novice to follow!
i nearly pulled the...
i collected a ready assembled 300ah lifepo battery earlier this week for my motorhome (RV) and am now looking at purchasing EVE cells from Fogstar to build a battery bank, so am looking forward to hearing how you progress
Dave
Princess of Power ....LOL
i originally had the same inverter as i wanted to add battery storage to an existing FiT system without affecting the FiT, i kept the existing system and added the additional inverter and battery.
the Sofar inverter worked really well and i only replaced the sofar...
The only thing I don't like, and it's personal opinion, is the lack of automatic heater and pad etc. on the basis that it's in an unheated area. Other than that it has performed brilliantly, no issues whatsoever! I have now built (almost) an insulated cover and added an external heating pad...
Fogstar have a new toy arriving soon ...

I have a Seplos 280L on order but am tempted to wait a couple of months for the new battery as it has a lot more features, then but two and sell my...
@LordPayso
I still suggest you speak to the guys at Offgrid Solutions, they will design and build to your needs/spec and to whatever regulations are needed. yes it may cost more than DiY (which is the intent of this forum !!) but you can be sure it will do as it says on the 'tin' ..
Babysteps LOL. though i assume there is no benefit as SWMS uses the car every day and range isnt great on battery, so we will prob not try that for quite some time.
just pleased that ive now got it all hooked up and hopefully ready to charge ! ive just checked my bills for January and i could...
