Can anyone recommend the best solar panels to install on a residential roof in the mid Atlantic?
Will seems to indicate that most the panels are pretty much the same but the pros in my area seem to install the dark black/blue panels..might be Canadian solar panels.
Thanks for your response LostInTheDesert. I watched this video before but it was a good refresher.
What do you think about the all in one systems by MPP? I know Will made note of their high idle consumption so if you have the MPP turned off you are unable to draw energy from the battery...is...
I need to heat and dehumidify my basement. My Service Panel at this point is full. Am I crazy to think I can heat and etc less than 1000 sqft using solar and mini splits?
I have seen videos on youtube were guys are heating and cooling their RVs as well as small homes using a DC only mini...
I received twelve 250 watt solar panels earlier this week and it’s taking more time than I expected. Foolish of me...
Is there any problem with me having 3 panels on my roof but not wired?
I am sorry if this question has been answered before but maybe someone can answer or point me in the right direction.
If I have a 100 watt solar panel getting direct sun light for an hour is it safe to say about 100 watts will be generated more or less?
Sorry guys Supevstech was right my drawing was crap as I did it from memory. Looks like I have the series panels wires correct. I was trying not to remove all the zip ties but here’s a pic
After replacing one male and two MC4 connectors I have 100 volts running into my 48v Growatt but still no watts are being registered for PV
Could this shade in the top right cause no energy to be generated?
Thanks Jason and NewBoston, I have a late 60s Square D Panel I believed is called split bus.
I might convert the range to gas which would free up a 40 amp double pull breaker but honestly I was considering off grid but maybe you guys are right grid tie is best.
Can I get a rough idea how...
I wired my panels 3S4P but i only had available 1by3 MC4 connectors so one positive and one negative connection is empty. Should just order 1by2 MC4 cause I am still having problems getting any PV watts
Also too my solar array wire to Growatt is 40ft 10AWG but I only need like 25 ft. Does...
I wired my 12 panels 3S4P but my all in one Growatt still does not register any PV watts. I have the correct MC4 connections and a 20 ft wire to my Growatt. Is there a way I can test my wires to make sure they are functional? Did incorrectly place the panels on my roof?
My attention to detail was lacking when I watched Wills video about installing a 48v solar array. Everything is in place except I noticed that my 48v step down to 12v converter is rated for 240 watts.
If I run my dehumidifier (which occasionally uses uses over 400 watts) will my converter...
My water heater is gas and I was reading
Delmar I could have sworn I read some models have a dry heat feature that warms and removes humidity at the same time but I am unable to locate with a quick google search now.
My water heater is gas but thanks for another interesting idea to think about
I have two battle born 50 amp 24 volt BB5024 batteries wired in series.
My panels get at least two hours of direct sun light starting at noon with no shade. I am working to trim back some of the old trees on my property
I made a mistake and wired my panels for 48v for my 48v Growatt all in one but apparently I really need at least 60 volts.
I have twelve 250watt solar panels. Two panels are wired in series respectively then everything in parallel like on page 60 of Wills book.
Would the easiest way to get...
Thanks for all the replies. Mostly I am concerned about shade. I took two large trees down but still have at least one more that needs to be at least trimmed,
Even so part of my house gets decent afternoon sun and I was wondering if sun meters for gardens would work to get decent info on...
Thanks Jason
Yes I am setup for 48v and I added a step down converter as everything I own runs on 12v. What can I run on 48v? And yes I run a 48v Growatt all in one thing
The roof gets direct sunlight for 3 maybe 4 hours right now. Each panel is 24v and I have two 24v batteries connected in series completely independent of the grid.
Thank you MBR I did have two MC 4 connectors that were faulty. Now I have 100volts going to my 48v Growatt but I am still not getting anything for PV watts.
I have set my growatt to Solar first and my solar panels do get direct sun for 2-3 hours. I in the process of trimming the tree in my...
