  • Post in thread: Why Victron, why?

Why are the top tier companies bothering to get UL certifications then? It is an added expense for the testing and certification. Article 110.3 of the NEC (Requirements for Electrical Installations) explains the expectations. The AHJ that I have encountered refer to the NEC. YMMV
  • Post in thread: Any AIO's work with non inverter type generator?

Sorry if covered many times before, but I did not find a definitive answer in a search. Is there any AIO's that work flawlessly with non inverter type generators? My old Trace Inverter/ Charger will take any generator I throw at it, I have used up to 4 different generators (3-non inverter, 1-...
  • Post in thread: I wish Victron made a 2000 watt Phoenix Inverter

I am running the Phoenix on default settings, I think the LVD is 18.6v? I saw 22 volts when it went down, did not check alarm light as it restarted shortly after I unplugged the load. To be fair the Exeltech was used on a 200ah 48 volt NIFE bank. I am very aware of the NIFE high internal...
  • Post in thread: AIO code compliant installations?

Was curious how the installers of AIO systems keep their systems code compliant? Are they being inspected? Are you meeting your home owners insurance requirements? It seems not many of the off shore brands are UL listed with conduit boxes available to help with compliance.
  • Post in thread: Hi Im looking for Nickel Iron batteries..

I have half of my 40 cells that are 11 years old on the original electrolyte, with one cell that is having trouble keeping a charge under load. The other 20 cells are 5 years old and are behaving fine. These are 20 beutility free cells (oldest) and 20 iron edison cells. I purchased these used...
  • Post in thread: NiFe Gassing

Three of the translucent cell containers of my 13 year old cells developed cracks. I tried to repair them with a plastic adhesive and they cracked worse. The adhesive may have been incompatible. The bank I picked up 3 years ago (10 years old at the time) had a layer of polypropylene beads...
  • Post in thread: I wish Victron made a 2000 watt Phoenix Inverter

No way to check logs or change presets, no VE dongle.
  • Post in thread: Cheapest 48v 50ah battery I've found so far. $409.99 free shipping

I want to get another one at this price but I do not think I have enough PV. I would like to keep at least 1kw per 50 amp hour battery.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using MidNite Solar MN3024DIY MPPT Hybrid Inverter?

Good to know, I can wait a few months till the weather warms up. Thanks for your update.
  • Post in thread: Low power 48volt inverter.

Looking for a low power 48 volt inverter that also has low idle current. Largest load is 960 watt well pump. Victron Phoenix 1200/48 is an option. Also Outback APCU 2648A AIO as it has an ATS and charger built in. This is to replace my used Exeltech XP1100 that I used 3 times and now has no...
  • Post in thread: Cheapest 48v 50ah battery I've found so far. $409.99 free shipping

I second that, the Eco-Worthy and DC House batteries at our cabin have also been working great.
  • Post in thread: Victron Multiplus II and generators

Can the Multiplus II accept non inverter type generator input? My AIO cannot and I want to make sure the Multi can.
  • Post in thread: AIO code compliant installations?

That is what I thought, will keep that in mind for our new inverter search.
  • Post in thread: KID vs Victron

Midnite Solar Kid has hypervoc, ags and can be used with the whizbang jr for monitoring. Victron is also good equipment but I have no experience with it.
  • Post in thread: I wish Victron made a 2000 watt Phoenix Inverter

If I were to move to Multiplus inverter/charger, how are they with a non inverter type generator? My AIO will not accept anything but an inverter type generator .
  • Post in thread: Predator or Champion?

Has anyone tried the ALP 1000 watt propane only generator? A little low on power but lightweight and inverter type generator.
  • Post in thread: SRNE (hf4835u80) stops charging when full

I have finally got my SRNE clone connected. Some initial observations, it only has up to parameter 28 on the menu screen. It would not qualify my Yamaha EF 1000 generator, the output frequency varies only about 1hz? I connect my Honda EU 1000 inverter type and it will qualify that, output...
  • Post in thread: Victron Multiplus II and generators

I have a stable of propane powered Onan LK 2500 1800 RPM gensets with a nice weather enclosure. My old Trace PS2512 had no problem with it, I know my AIO would not like it as it does not like my Yamaha EF1000 which is pretty stable for a non inverter type.
  • Post in thread: Acquired Falling apart off-grid system, need advice

I had 5 parallel strings of L16'S for the last 5 years and even with meticulous maintenance I am down to 2 parallel strings now. That is with better than a C10 charge rate. I am now migrating to a 48 volt system single string. I am not saying it can't be done, just that there are more effective...
  • Post in thread: Low power 48volt inverter.

No need for 240 volt as my well is powered by an auto transformer on the load side of the pressure switch. Thanks, will look into Samlex model suggested.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using MidNite Solar MN3024DIY MPPT Hybrid Inverter?

I hope to hear from more users, sounds like most problems have been resolved via MS tech support. Now if they have a dedicated E-panel.
  • Post in thread: MK 8G8D batteries

That is a Trace TC-60 or part of an E-panel known as a PC250 which I am still using today, to be replaced this spring, nevertheless a pretty good PWM charge controller.
  • Post in thread: Anyone using MidNite Solar MN3024DIY MPPT Hybrid Inverter?

Just curious if anyone used this inverter yet? The price sure is attractive and it would use less OCPD's and has a built in charge controller. Just not sure if it can fill the shoes of my old Trace PS2524 which is getting close to 20 years old and should be replaced soon. Wish Midnite Solar...
  • Post in thread: Low power 48volt inverter.

Outback Power has some older 1500 watt inverter chargers but are not current production. The Outback APCU 2648A has also been discontinued, so I would end up with an orphan product. It would be great if a manufacturer would make such a product. I may have to move up to a higher power inverter.
  • Post in thread: I wish Victron made a 2000 watt Phoenix Inverter

That is a possibility, but surge is usually brief and sustained overload can last a minute, I think the Phoenix ran out of beans.
  • Post in thread: Midnite Solar DIY AIO and non inverter generator for battery charging?

Hi, I have asked this question before and it never got a solid answer. Will a non inverter type generator work with the MN5048, MN3548 and MN3024 DIY AIO inverters? I am still using my SRNE AIO clone inverter and I only have two issues with it: Inverter type generator only on its AC input for...
  • Post in thread: Will please answer this question regarding your recent video...

I have never seen any type of conduit installed outdoors that is watertight, that is why you install low point drains and install correct wiring for wet locations.
  • Post in thread: SOLD: LifePo4 cells for sale in Twin Cities

Here is some more information on these cells. They were purchased from battery hookup on May 4th 2022 and have never been used. The purchase price for 8 was $240 plus shipping. I would like to get $250 for all 16 cells. Located in St. Paul/Mpls area. Cells have been sold
  • Post in thread: MC4 extension cables

In the past I have always hardwired my older panels with liquid tite and individual single wires to the panels. Now I am going to try and join this century and use MC4 cables with my new panels. Is there a MC4 extension cable made with the correct (+ - ) connectors on one end (2 conductors...
