Amazon Sucks Big-Time!

On the plus side, when they are hurting, they tend to revert to their better origins. IBM in early 90s. Sun in its last 5 years. Microsoft to a lesser degree today... but not necessarily overall or in a big way like IBM in early 90s.

I've seen this over and over and over ... Microsoft... Google... IBM... Sun... Apple... One exception is Oracle. They have always sucked since they tried to move beyond the database.

Google before: "do no evil"
Holy shit, your speaking the big guys words for sure now! Oracle has destroyed Java! After leaving Walmart, I went to school again and started a career in IT. The only company I hate more than Oracle is Adobe. Java, Adobe Reader, and Adobe Flash Player exist solely to make my work life a living hell.

SIGH.... Java was my core language from 2002 to 2016. I'm literally rewriting a system I build in 2016 in Java in Node today using TypeScript (TS). Today, for instance, I wrote code in both as part of the migration.

This is way off-topic, so creating a new off-topic topic lol

That's odd, I've used Amazon for 6+ years and never had a problem but then I don't buy big-ticket items either. Sounds like you got dinged by an automated process. As a programmer I'm just guessing here, but the automated freeze process on Amazon might be triggered if you live in one country and order from Amazon from a different country site. So if I'm in the US and order from amazon.co.uk without realizing it I might get frozen too.

The BBB in the US is terrible and ratings can be bought so it's pointless to complain to them.

So I waited over the 48 hours they promised (the last time) to contact me at Amazon, after the Supv filled out 2 forms. I contacted them multiple times before that, and NO replies, explanations, apologies, or coupons. One of the reps even promised to personally call me, LOL, nothing. (That poor guy had only been working there a month and got an ear-full from me).

I will at least be trying the BBB and see if what you say is true. This situation wouldn't be as bad if they just gave me the fridge (with a Danfoss compressor) with the 20% off coupon back (and gave me the fricking stove they say isn't allowed in CA, or gave me a legitimate reason I can't have it after ordering it 2 years ago). I will find everything elsewhere (I hope)...

If I could do it again, I'd create a login first in hopes I could better track the complaint. Let me know if you create a login before filing, and if that helps to track it like it does on ecommerce sites. You'll get tracking-related emails. But the links in them eventually expire.

Thanks for the heads up! I will.

So here is an update regarding Amazon freezing my account and cancelling almost everything (about 40 items) I ordered. I have spoken to them about 6 times over the last month with supervisors promising to personally call me back, but none did. Well, today was my lucky day after having to repeat my story 3 times, I got to someone who helped me. I bought a refrigerator on 11/8/19 with a 20% off coupon, (prior to the bigger purchase) but that was one of the items they cancelled. So, turns out they never refunded me for the fridge after almost a month. She's giving me the 20% credit on a gift card, so I will have to re-order it again from them. She also said she's giving me a $30 credit for my trouble. (Seems worth a lot more in trouble, but I'll take it.) She still couldn't give me a reason why they froze my account. So, I am re-ordering the fridge and only a few other things I didn't find elsewhere...we shall see how this goes! I will order from E-bay, Home Depot, Walmart, and other places as top priority. I hope the camp stove can be shipped here from E-bay. Thanks for being on my thread.

I started to fill out the BBB form today, but instead tried one more call to Amazon, which turned out well...I hope!

That is weird. Amazon doesn't charge you for the item until it ships. That has numerous times caused me confusion, as I'll find charges on my credit card statements months after I order backordered items. There shouldn't be anything to refund... the order was cancelled before shipping, ergo no charge in the first place to refund.

That is true with an Amazon fulfillment. It is a bit more complicated with 3rd party sellers & fulfillers. Amazon is also a YUGE operation & not all cells communicate with all the other cells @ 100% efficiency, so sh*t happens from time to time.
Ma bell ounce forgave me a stolen phone set because they could not find a PLU to ring up the penalty fee for failure to return a company installed phone set.

It WAS shipped. They were supposed to deliver the fridge the day they froze my account.

Call me a freak/corporate sellout or whatever, but I love Amazon. I buy almost everything there. Prime is the best deal on the planet if you use all the perks.

Wow! Good for you. I would have been, had they quality customer service. (I spent over $4,000 with my orders last month.) It took 6 supervisors to try to rectify the situation and even notice I never received a refund for the fridge in almost a month. I told her she needs to train all the previous supervisors who took my calls. What good is Prime? I have it, but don't really know much about it, just you can watch free movies. In fact, I may be cancelling it after this bc my 1st month is up.

That's a bummer. I hope they rectify that for you. The best part of Prime is that with free shipping on everything, I no longer make a shopping list. When I need something, I just pull up the app on my phone, find it, swipe, done. Yes free movies, music, streaming events, and earlybird shopping on things like Black Friday too. Also free ebooks. A lot of people don't know that you can share your prime account. I share mine with a co-worker and we split the cost. Totally separate accounts, separate shopping carts, etc.

Prime is NOT free shipping. That's an illusion. Since they introduced it, they have done everything in their power to hide the true cost of shipping in their pricing. They are constantly at war with bots, the only means the public has to tally and compare prices.

Prime is hidden shipping cost.

I was on Amazon Friday, because I got suckered into a $15 credit for Amazon only products if I bought a $50 gift card. I have to add to cart and go as far to checkout to see two things:

- Is the item an Amazon product eligible for the credit?
- What is the cost of shipping?

That caused me to waste hours trying to find something I could use the credit on. Despite being signed in with a login I've used for over 10 years, it kept requiring me to fill in a captcha just to VIEW THEIR PRODUCTS!!! This is because my behavior of going to checkout then abandoning is the only means of collecting true pricing data, and their algos are designed to make that painful to deter bots. They are afraid of anyone collecting and publishing the data demonstrating their pricing deception.

I opened up a support chat. You know how they got even for me refusing to fill out the captcha? They invalidated my password (while I was in the chat), forcing me to do a full password reset, which ... you guessed it, requires completing the captcha.

I always compare the prime prices to prices at other stores. It's usually exactly the same price (free shipping) or just a bit more. I'll pay just a bit more to not have to wade through the smelly masses at walmart. I don't blindly believe in the free shipping, but it's usually true. Why would you refuse to fill out the captcha? Sounds like you're just trying to be difficult.

Oh, and btw, they are the only ecommerce site I know of that does not give you a copy of the chat after. If I had it, I'd share.
