Hey guys. I'm from Australia and I'm designing a 24V system for my Volkswagen Transporter T5. I'm a first time DIY builder, so I'm a bit out of my depth.

I've found a few sites supposedly selling Sunpower Maxeon panels, and I can fit 3 on the roof with about 160mm overhang on the sides. The panels are around 415W each, for a total array size of 1245W.

I noticed the voltage on Maxeon panels is 80.5W, significantly higher than most panels. Short circuit current is 6.35A.

I'm wondering the best way to wire 3 of these panels together to a 24V MPPT charge controller. Series or parallel? And is it even advisable for a DIY builder to wire up this system?

Thanks in advance,
Danial

With voc that high, youd likely need to wire them in parallel unless you have a high voltage mppt.
At 24v you'll need a 60A mppt. Something like the Victron 150/60

You are not outside the realm of DIY, go for it
