Anyone recently installed a 18kpv and still have the box and packaging? I need to send mine in for a warranty replacement.

Can’t the vendor either send you an empty box or send you an advanced replacement so you can use the box to return the other one?
Nope they don’t want to… they will do anything that makes its easy for them not to honor the warrant I guess

IIRC @SignatureSolarJess said their tech support can help with EG4 products no matter where you bought them, and I know she recently expedited an advance replacement so it might be worth a try. 🤷‍♂️

I’ll have a couple of empty boxes soon, but don’t have any way to get them to you.

Are you an inverter packaging specialist? If they won't ship you the replacement first so you can use the box to send back the defective unit, place it in any box that it will fit in, slap the return label on it and send it back. Under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1975 it is the manufacturers responsibility to pay for ALL return shipping costs of a defective product and one could argue that would also include the cost of packaging.

Be weary of their request if its the vendor I think it is. They have a propencity to claim everything works fine once they have it back in their possession and then you're on the hook for return shipping. Demand that they send you the replacement inverter first to avoid this situation.

I have already started the process with shopsolarkits and they just sent me the return label.

Thanks. I will ask them to send the replacement unit first and see what they say. I don’t mind paying for the replacement unit and have them refund the money when they get the defective unit

Not quite, we really can’t use Signature Solar tech support unless it was distributed through us. I’m sure the misunderstanding there was that we supported a unit from a sub- distributor. Then again, we go above and beyond, so we may have just helped out someone in a horrible situation. It’s typically up to the distributor that sold the unit to provide the support at that point but I will always try and get the end user assistance! Typically I’ll reach out to my connection at EG4 to get some help :)
