I realize by now I was rather cryptic.

I meant to ask/propose if this forum can benefit from a new section. One related to plants.

It does provide a means to store solar power from the summer in the form of carbohydrates, for use during winter.

I think a generator (sterling, turbine, etc.) located somewhere between combustion and water or space heater is an interesting backup generator for our PV systems.

something along the lines of fieldlines which is for wind turbines but then for gardening.

Anyways, want to provide some context? I mean I'm looking at a backyard pond where it looks like maybe you dug out the vegetation/peat from a naturally swampy area.

And how cool is it that you have a channel marker back there to give it that Disney Mark Twain navigable waterway look? That's cool as shit.

The asparagus though got me confused. Why would one want to deal with the aftermath of proper asparagus?

Let me fill everyone in behind the reasoning.

Since corona and stuff I have been trying to do things that are related to self reliance.

One of those things is growing food.

I'll admit that I have started very late and know very few things yet to actually grow self sustaining.

Anyway. What we saw earlier are;
* mostly potatoes
* some squash
* little union that do , what seems like, absolutely nothing

Given I am around Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Northern hemisphere) levels of solar influence.
Yet have full control over the soil we use.
What would you ( one ) suggest to grow when survival is all one cares about.

Enough to land an airplane...

Asparagus is not a problem since I usually go outside to pee in the summer anyhow..

Asparagus is a super food and super easy to grow.... and like a weed, it keeps coming back every year.

I was in Amsterdam back long long time ago. Lot of red light districts and open drug use - sales. Is it all dried up and gone now?

I liked Germany … The germans loved cabbage potatoes peppers onions pigs chickens cows and so on. I remember some german families that had cows under their homes like on first floor. Micro Small farms… but productive. Vendors use to deliver bread milk cheese beer and so on back then.

The Asian ppl are probably most amazing to me for balcony - roof top farms. Very dense - they are noted experts at small area food production. Might want to look for them and their methods. Hydroponics is also something worthy of notation since you have water source - if it is clean?

In USA there is often a food cost vs growing our own. It can be more costly to farm … one of major benefits is if you make maintain own seed from gardens. Something see a lot ppl will buy only one plant tree when they need several to get maximum production. Watching ppl buy 1 cherry tree and or 1 apple tree is humor. They need several others to pollenate properly for best reproduction. Like hens often need a roostrr for egg productions. Although hybrid chickens have been raised…. Cross bred altered. Chickens have to raise young replacements so some eggs are dedicated reproduction. Same as milk cow needs bull to make milk… must get pregnant have baby so can rob some milk too. Same as if take all the honey bees won’t survive. Think made my point.

for ppl in USA if you grow or have dope smoke pot just remember even if your State allows it you are in Federal violation of gun laws due to Feds still criminalizing dope smoke. So no guns around your dope can’t own them unless you are hunter biden…
