Hey Guys

Wondering if someone has used the es5000 just to charge battery modules from utility?
Been through the options 001 Listed here....I'm guessing the real question is this..

Q. Is Battery charging ever considered a LOAD?

SOL
Solar firstSolar energy provides power to the loads as first priority. If solar energy is not sufficient to power all connected loads, battery energy will supply power the loads at the same time.Utility provides power to the loads only when any one condition happens:- Solar energy is not available- Battery voltage drops to either low-level warning voltage or the setting point in program 12.

UTL
Utility first (default)Utility will provide power to the loads as first priority.Solar and battery energy will provide power to the loads only when utility power is not available.
SBU
Solar energy provides power to the loads as first priority. If solar energy is not sufficient to power all connected loads, battery will supply power to the loads at the same time.Utility provides power to the loads only when battery voltage drops to either low-level warning voltage or the setting point in program 12.

SUB
Solar energy provides power to the loads as first priority. If solar energy is not sufficient to power all connected loads, solar and utility will power loads at the same time.Battery provides power to the loads only when solar energy is not sufficient and there is no utility

No, it's not.

You can set a maximum battery charging current (DC amps to battery, not AC amps into inverter) to control the load you put on your utility circuit. However, if you also use the inverter to power anything with its ac output, the total load seen by the utility circuit will be the watts of battery charging PLUS the watts going out the AC out on the inverter.

You can also set times of day to allow utility charging, so it can be scheduled for night or off-peak hours if you wish.
