I am looking for some direction on a system. The plan is to start with a 4kw solar array and 20kw battery. I don't run anything crazy like shop equipment or a welder and max usage on the energy bill is 30kw and that's only in the winter. What would be a the simplest set up. Is it possible to just have an inverter and connect the battery and array directly to it?

I would start by differentiating between kWs and kWhs when tryng to size equipment. KWhs is for batteries and electric bills and is a measure of energy. KWs is power and used to size loads and solar panels..
