  • Post in thread: EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

Its been a while since I read what's new. I've caught up on everything thing in this and the original thread. Sounds like a lot of controversy. A couple of points I can make if anyone cares. The original thread that I started on the Lux Power 12K unit was a year ago. Those units were...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Rather than explaining how you want to do it, please explain what you are trying to achieve. Provide all of the information we need to help you answer your questions. What you have asked: 1. How to install the inverter with a bypass to address inverter failure, 2. How to make the inverter...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Well done, and I would also like to thank you for joining the forum. We have been waiting for you to do so for a long time. Hopefully you continue to provide real information we need about your inverter. Also glad to see you are coming to Salt Lake City.
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

I was notified yesterday that GSL will be releasing their new 12K hybrid split-phase inverter with 200A AC passthrough for the US market. Production will be limited in September but will ramp up through October and November. Significant features to note: 12kW EPS output (surge: 14k 10 mins...
  • Post in thread: GSL 8k non DEYE installation help! (Megarevo??)

Their latest US hybrid inverter is a 12k LuxPowerTek inverter. The older models looked like Deye. Megarevo has changed their look this year and are making more narrow inverters that are longer. Amensolar is a reseller of Megarevo for example. The deal is that when Deye gave exclusive rights to...
  • Post in thread: Trying to understand Off-Grid vs On-Grid, PV and battery Backup

I understand what you say but I don't agree, so let me explain. First of all who said he needs an AIO inverter? You did. I say he needs a hybrid inverter, and a hybrid inverter is capable of on-grid, off-grid, and grid-tie capabilities. Most brand name full-house inverters are hybrid inverters...
  • Post in thread: Vevor inverter? 3500w pure sine

I don't understand the reasoning behind most of the comments here. The VEVOR inverters are great. They produce 120VAC rather than 110VAC like traditional cheapo Chinese inverters. Amazon sells them themselves. They handle load well, at least the loads I have run (around 1500W) with no voltage...
  • Post in thread: EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

That's too bad. I was hoping. When I click the link I don't get the error page you did. Instead I get an empty page with Watts247 header and footer. So maybe he is working on it. I have seen this problem before with their website.
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Look carefully. The 12KLV stands for low voltage. The model you are referring to is the high voltage model (GSL-H12KHV-US) not the model we are talking about in this thread.
  • Post in thread: Trying to understand Off-Grid vs On-Grid, PV and battery Backup

And my point was that it is simpler than that. All he needs is a more modern hybrid with a 200A pass-through, self consumption, and zero export. You can get these now for less money than any other option, and its less work. Just put the hybrid between the service panel and his existing load...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

The Growatt is not comparable. First of all its a 240V single-phase inverter not a 240V split-phase inverter. That makes it a completely different installation requiring an isolation transformer. That's another $1500 at least plus tax and shipping. The isolation transformer would need to be at...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Let me clarify a little about TT payments. TT payments are wire transfers from the buyer's bank to the seller's bank. The TT stands for Telegraphic Transfer or Telex Transfer which goes back to the days of the telegraph. We don't use telegraphs anymore, we use computers and the Internet, but the...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

That's good. Now Californians need not fret. I don't think you will see Shenzen Sea Star on the list. They are an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company not an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Since this distinction can be a little confusing, let me use an example to explain it...
  • Post in thread: Trying to understand Off-Grid vs On-Grid, PV and battery Backup

Yea they're not. maybe I could have been more concise in my wording there. Hybrids are AIOs. When I said that most brand name full-house inverters are hybrid inverters not AIO inverters, what I meant was that hybrids are not just traditional off-grid all-in-ones. I was not saying that hybrids...
  • Post in thread: New All in One: MPP LVX6048WP (UL certified)

That's correct. The lugs are also limited to 8-6 gauge wire too. However the output side is limited to 25 amps and 10-8 gauge wire. What kind of passthrough is that? Its passthrough is rated with the same rating as the inverter. The point of a passthrough is to allow all loads to be run against...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

On another note, if you are willing to buy MOQ, you can buy from LuxPower as well, they just won't sell shipments of one.
  • Post in thread: What Equipment is needed to make a short term "UPS" for critical loads panel, and grow to long term in the future.

Since you are talking about 120/240VAC split phase support, continuous load of over 7KW for AC, and your existing grid-tie solar inverter, you need a real all house inverter. Nothing less will meet your requirements. Options are the Lux Power 12K unit or an equivalent Sol Ark unit. There really...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Yea I understand that to parallel them you need the CANBus cable not WiFi. The inverters don't use WiFi to communicate for paralleling. But I believe from the manual that the inverters must be told they are in a group. You have to terminate them properly as well.
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

The specs say the inverter supports up to 18kW of PV input maximum. Assuming from what you said, all strings are equal. Therefore you can put 4500W per string into the inverter, as long as the voltage and current don't exceed 4500W and are within the limits of each MPPT controller, that is 600V...
  • Post in thread: New All in One: MPP LVX6048WP (UL certified)

I'm glad you are happy with it. I agree that their 15K is a better value than their smaller models. I don't think everyone is looking for 15K though. Their 5K model is over half the price of their 15K model. I'm certainly interested in the 15K. Not interested at all in their 5, 8, or 12K. I...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

That's the sticker price, the price if you pick it up at their factory or warehouse and walk away with it. They don't take care of anything except take your money. FOB means they will get it on the ship but won't pay any import taxes or fees and won't arrange for delivery once it gets to the...
  • Post in thread: Battery Charger to Charge Controller

It sounds like you want to up the voltage on the Drok so that you can up its power output about 4x. Is that correct? Sounds like a great idea to maximize what you have available. That would effectively give you 60V output at 10A on the Drok and 600W charging instead of 150W charging out of the...
  • Post in thread: Trying to understand Off-Grid vs On-Grid, PV and battery Backup

Look Tim, this isn't about winning an argument with you. Its about what you said, stopping the spread of misinformation about ideas and some of the terms used in the industry. You made assumptions and statements about what I proposed that were simply incorrect. You don't appear to know anything...
  • Post in thread: New All in One: MPP LVX6048WP (UL certified)

As far as I know the LVX6048WP does not have passthrough capabilities. I believe its has an online double conversion design. That means AC comes in and is converted to DC to charge the battery if necessary, and the inverter part of the design takes power from the DC source and produces AC for...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

"so it seems based on weight alone" -- what? :) You can't do that, but what if we did? Since the GSL model and all of the Sol-Ark models are described as being transformer-less, must we conclude that Sol-Ark's 5K-2P model is inferior to the GSL because it only weighs 78 pounds? Must we conclude...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

I see now what you are trying to do. You want to use the GSL inverter like a grid tied inverter but also form a grid without batteries when the grid goes down. I don't remember seeing that use case specifically called out in the GSL user manual, and I am not aware of any inverter that does that...
  • Post in thread: Looking for a 12V 1500W~2000W Pure Sine Wave inverter under $300

They are kind of like a mix between Harbor Freight and Temu I guess. They couldn't manufacture everything they sell. They just provide a brand for products. Maybe they make some things. I am sure they don't make inverters, but neither does any name brand I know. In fact what does it mean to...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

You must be an optimist. :) All you are looking for is a track record. If its good then the probability is that it will be good for you too. You don't just buy from random vendors with no track record selling 50% off specials. You talk with the CEO of the company. You research how long they...
  • Post in thread: New Lux Power LXP-LB-US 12k / GSL-H-12KLV-US with 200A AC Passthrough Current (US Market)

Cost of what I showed above is under $500 if you go with the switch. A Square D 225A external panel costs around $110 from Gordon Electric. Two matching 100A two-pole breakers cost $64 each from HomeDepot, and a 100A Eaton double-pole double-throw switch costs $222 from HomeDepot. #1 copper...
  • Post in thread: Help me design my system

Good question. I have wondered that as well. Since most if not all good BMSs support CAN bus and wifi, I think they are compatible, but I may be mistaken. I would really like to know this answer too if someone has tried it. The GSL batteries list themselves as being compatible with several...
