If you are not allowed to sell charging, advertise Free EV Charging and have your kids set up a lemonade stand. They can tell the people the charging is free with a lemonade or they can charge for parking.
I have a completly different view of that culture and I have learned to interact with it in a positive way. It seems this whole thread is about you and I find it humorous that you would not even test the cells. Matched does not mean they will all be the same voltage after being discharged for...
It is marketing and I agree it is deceptive. If you dive into the details, my understanding is if you AC couple a 12k SolArk you can get a total of 12kW from a combination of the AC coupled pass through and the native 9kW from the internal inverter. I have a 5kW Outback Skybox and I can AC...
I don't have it with my BMS and Inverter without communications. A lot of the issues can be handled with appropriate settings on both devices.
If I had the perfect system I would have them communicate but I am reminded by the saying, do not let perfect be the enemy of good.
As promised, here are photos of my 12 volt pack. I used 3/8 allthread on the bottom covered with PEX pipe and 1/4 allthread on the sides. I will also post photos of the BMS and the plexiglass cover.
So it is a teaser headline, giving LFP a bad name. If I had to give it a title it would be, " Look what happened when I overcharged my battery without a BMS".
Teaser headline. There is not a "Dark Side" of solar if one is informed. The headline which would be more appropriate would have been, " Beware of Solar Sales People". Become informed and make an optimal decision.
My son in law loves his. Reasonable minds will differ. I think using hundreds of moving parts and thousands of small explosions is an outdated way to to move a vehicle. It is still very popular because change is hard. Time will tell where we end up.
I anticipate a big states rights battle if this takes place especially in California. Also one only has to look at Hawaii to see what high electrical rates and anti solar policies did. The number of battery installations increased. Long term that is a death spiral for utilities.
I do anticipate...
My order of 32 LF280 cells which I ordered from April Cao at Changsa Deligreen were dropped off this morning by Fedex. I placed the order on 8 May, it generated a tracking number on 18 May and the ship set sail on 18 May, arriving in the port of LA on 12 June. It took until 21 June for them to...
I never constrained the Winston prismatics I was using six years ago. Then, one unexpected deep discharge event left them slightly expanded and strained the connectors. The cells retained their capacity but that is when I saw the benefits of some constraint just to protect against an event that...
Fault? I am in the same boat, it has become a compelling hobby. I built a Heathkit 65 years ago and little did I know that beating my utility out of dollars would be my passion when I retired. In California with summer peak rates as high as $0.55 it has become a financially rewarding hobby.
I just finished reading this thread. I learned a lot that will save me some money and uncertainty, especially with regard to ensuring that the Trade Terms are clear about customs and duty and transit risks. (DDP)
That cell capacity and form factor is a good fit for me when I replace my ageing...
I share your risk management strategy. Your safeguard is your credit card company. Keep us informed about how that goes.
I could care less about your perception of your cells and of that vendor. I would like to see some facts about capacity and actual data about why you believe they are not...
This is my work around on how I avoided putting one of those MBRF Bussman Fuse holders directly on a 6 mm stud. the buss bar was one I got from Deligreen and drilled out one end to 3/8". It bent easily. The 3/8 stand off I found on Amazon for $5 and the other thing that worked out is now I can...
I use the terms interchageably. A runner better describes what the cell does when it his the knees. My BMS describes a weak cell as a cell which has hit the high or low voltage set point. In either case I attribute the result to either imbalance or less capacity. Techically an imbalance might...
I think there have been a lot of explanations on why bottom balancing is not on the path to a pack that is going to be balanced at the top. I am not trying to convince you if you still do not understand, however for the benefit of other readers who might see your comment out of context I should...
I use tinned copper cast lugs and use a hydraulic crimper for the best cold welded connection. The stamped thin ones are no good for anything with substantial Amps.
This is how I got all 32 in a 30 x 30 cabinet. I have a 1/8 " aluminum plate on top and bottom and allthread clamping them between columns 1 & 2 and 3 & 4. I still have some buss bar fabrication to do to eliminate the multiple buss bars. There are angle pieces of aluminum on the top and the...
I had previously reported on my Outback Skybox install with a 7kW Enphase micro GT system..
I recently evaluated my needs and the easiest way for me to add incremental capacity is with micros on my west facing roof pitches. For a couple of reasons I decided to upgrade to a SolArk 12k which in...
The OP posted earlier that the inspector reached his conclusion because the area around the fuse showed signs that it was the hottest portion of the fire and likely the cause. What little I know about fire inspections is that it is an imperfect science when most of the facts have burned up...
That would be my concern. LFP are better stored at 50% SOC and unless I knew the trickle charged voltage I would be concerned enough to want to do a capacity test.
