  • Post in thread: What Mini-Split did you use, and Why?

Just installed in the Senville 24k Aura yesterday in our cabin and it's awesome. We will use it for cooling when needed as we have no air-conditioning now but mainly for heat in winter vs electric baseboard. Install went smooth, I did do the 'extras': 10 awg Romex to 10 awg thhn/thwn in...
  • Post in thread: Well pump

I’m running the Grundfos 10SQ07-200-230V, 10GPM, 3/4HP, 230V, 2 Wire, 96160141, 3" Stainless Steel Submersible Well Pump with my 6000xp. No issues at all, runs perfectly.
  • Post in thread: EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra

It’s a tempting device. Want to see @Will Prowse use the Ultra on both car lifts at the same time.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000xp CANBUS Comms with Victron Smart Shunt w/DIY Battery

Threee weeks running this solution and not a single problem. Victron shunt reporting accurate SOC to 6000xp and charging/discharging with correct parameters. The lower charge current above 95% was key in keeping the batteries balanced which is done by JK BMS (non inverter version).

  • Post in thread: Dark Side of Solar

    Yes!!! We only screw ourselves.
  • Post in thread: New EG4 6000XP Install

That’s not how networking and changes to destinations work, not through a ping. What I hear you saying is that the 6000xp connnects to a server in China which reconfigures it to connect to a new target in the U.S.? So China can reconfig these inverter systems?
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000xp CANBUS Comms with Victron Smart Shunt w/DIY Battery

Project is awesome. Been running and stable for about 48 hours now. Not sure what brand that power supply is. It works and was cheap. Used to parallel and top balance cells before I discovered active balancing.
  • Post in thread: My EG4 6000xp Cabin Build w/EVE Battery

Finally moved everything up to our cabin and set it up. Will be running via voltage for now. Runs critical load panel through interlock in smaller panel. 50a breakers in and out and 8awg wire for AC. Have to get a Jbox and extend my generator input (wires dangling down on left). PV is after...
  • Post in thread: Does it make sense to split labor between roofer and licensed solar installer?

$2/watt seems like a hell of a deal for all the permits, engineering plans, required structural engineering sealed report, installation of owner purchased equipment/racking and wiring, and dealing with inspections. Roofers typically don’t know the NEC and Fire Code needed for solar installs.
  • Post in thread: Source for predicting cloud cover?

I use the OpenWeatherMap APIs to trigger a grid charge if cloud cover over 50% or precipitation over 40% when below 20% SOC using Home Assistant.
  • Post in thread: Just noticed Issue with Custom 48v pack

Just trust the process. Moved pack to another inverter and set bulk and float to 58v. Took several days but all good.
  • Post in thread: Do we still need T-Class Fuses?

Damn that’s a lot of power
  • Post in thread: JK-BMS-CAN with new Cut-Off Charging Logic (open-source)

After watching this thread, it makes sense now why UKSA007 makes you pay for product and support
  • Post in thread: JK BMS Deal AliExpress

Scrap that update. They showed up about 10 minutes after I posted that. Also from NJ and Adapters came from FL.
  • Post in thread: One Mini-Split or Two?

Just installed the Senville 24k Aura heat pump myself at our cabin. It’s conditioning the main level with no problem which is about 1200 sqft. Bought this model for the low ambient heat function. It’s a little more than Leto series but supposedly more efficient. Anyway, works great. Seems to...
  • Post in thread: What I'm learning about DIY Enphase and Hoymiles Microinverters

I want a battery because I can ;). Of course there are occasional outages and I travel most of the time for work. Would like to have some resiliency for family with battery/hybrid inverter. I also really enjoy all this technology. Allows me to use my electrical engineering degree for something...
  • Post in thread: Victron is Over-priced Eurotrash. Why would anybody buy Victron over an AiO?

@HighTechLab, I still want to test for myself the 120v generator to 240v well pump video you did years ago with a solar edge autotransformer. Can't really get those solar-edge ones anymore but having an autotransformer standing by if you have a 120v generator OR 1/2 of your Victron split phase...
  • Post in thread: 6500EX-48 - Sell it or keep it?

Ahh, thanks. Punctuation mislead me to believe there was a problem with 18KPV.
  • Post in thread: Home Assistant

Google search for you inverter and home assistant. If it exists it will take you to that community page. There are many integrations.
  • Post in thread: EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra

This is tempting but if you build a custom eve 304 48v pack for $1700 and add a 6000xp for $1300 you’re just over 1/2 the price with better flexibility and larger batttery. Not sure how much they charge for the Eco Panel 2 on top of the $4799. When it goes to $5799 after discount is where...
  • Post in thread: How good are the newer mini splits at heating?

I’m finally getting to use my Senville Aura 24k (-22° F) unit for heating my first level in cabin. Been in the high 30s at night here. Only other (non wood burning) source is 5-2000w baseboard heaters. The Senville did hit 2600 watts for a few minutes when I turned it on, then it settled to...
  • Post in thread: Seems MPP dropped a new inverter...a split phase 10KW

Understood, but why keep selling them? From a business perspective, does it financially make sense with the additional support needed as well as the bad press. At some point have to stop the bleeding and just support what you already sold. No need to respond to this. Didn’t mean to take over...
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000xp CANBUS Comms with Victron Smart Shunt w/DIY Battery

Just finished a small test project with a ESP32 Devkit and MCP2515 CANBUS module following the instructions at the below post on the forum. In short, YES!, the Victron Shunt is reporting SOC%, Voltage, Current, and other items to the EG4 6000xp and controlling charge/discharge/etc. Thanks to...
  • Post in thread: Where are the mini splits????

I am very impressed by the Senville Aura 24k, which shares the same parts with many other brands. I've been waiting for months to test the heating capability and it's amazing. My main level (with loft) is 1200 sqft and was heated by 6 1800 watt 72" baseboard heaters. These are now just...
  • Post in thread: Victron to EG4

That was an awesome video. Great work!
  • Post in thread: EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

Very interested in this zero export test as I’m not allowed to export at all but want to power as much as the consumption I can from PV/Battery knowing I’ll always need grid in some capacity.
  • Post in thread: Seems MPP dropped a new inverter...a split phase 10KW

Did Signature Solar/EG4 just completely admit to all the issues with their pre-18kPV inverters with that statement @SignatureSolarJames
  • Post in thread: Can somebody tell me what the yellow item is The label next to it says battery disconnect.

Agree, it's terrible. One of the issues I showed the dealer on mine (prior to delivery) was when you open or closed one of the side large slides. I put a flir thermal camera on the lugs and showed the dealer how hot the lug/connector, wire was getting which exceeded rating. Yeah I was a major...
  • Post in thread: Solar assistant: do you use it?

With SA and HA, it’s set it and forget it for changing settings. Can even alert your phone when conditions change if you want. No manual intervention. SA itself is great for metrics. The data can be greatly enhanced, merged with other data, and displayed however you like with HA/Grafana.
